The "poster" dunk is an exemplification of everything wrong in the NBA.
Blake Griffin's dunk on Gasol? He extended his forehand and it was an offensive foul on Gasol. Gasol did the right thing and tried to contest it, didn't get the foul, and now everyone says Griffin "owned" Gasol. No. It was a freaking foul and Gasol tried to stop it.
I'm sick of seeing players jump out of the way for fear of poster get no flak but players who do try to win the game and play defense get all this negative rep about them. I mean if Dwight Howard has an easy dunk and you'r a 6'0 guard, no you shouldn't try to block it because you'll just give an and-1. But If you're Chris freaking Bosh and don't even try to contest when Rondo flies by you for a dunk you should get some freaking criticism.
The poster dunk is a very rare thing in the NBA. What people like to call poster dunks often involve bigmen dunking over smaller guards and/or committing an offensive foul that doesn't get called. Just like when DeAndre Jordan recently dunked over that Raptors guard. WELL WHAT THE EFF DO YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN WHEN A GUARD CONTESTS A DUNKING CENTER. He should be given RESPECT for trying to stop him not getting ripped. I mean yeah, if Dwight Howard got dunked on by Nate Robinson in a game that is one thing, but a guard contesting a center?? OHHH SO IMPRESSIVE.
It's a freaking joke and it is the reason why the NBA has gone done hill so much. It's more about flash and getting away with offensive fouls than it is good disciplined, team orientated basketball like the Celtics/Spurs do.
