The drops are becoming more and more consistent. You can choose to ignore that if you want.

They actually measure drops, and this is true. Welker's drop rate of 10.28% is actually well above his 3 year average previous of 8.8%

10.28% is still better than Victor Cruz (and many other high profile wide receivers), but its below Welker's usual performance.
His drop rate is also still within the margin of statistical noise I'd imagine. 1.4% is how many drops, one? Two?

Did all the slot receivers in the NFL just hear their market value crash?

Yeah the last two years must have been "funny money" years that would never actually happen for him to take a two year deal.

Receiver Wes Welker has agreed to terms with the Broncos, the club announced.

John Elway tweeted: "Excited to have Wes join the Broncos. His production & toughness will be a great asset!"

More on this to come.

Well, he just pulled off a Ray Allen.

Looks that way, not sure which rumor is true.

Wait, $6M per year for two years?
I'm am willing to bet that the Pats offered more than that.
I guess Welker just didn't want to play for the Pats. In which case, good riddance, and I hope you suck for years to come.

Don't be so sure, if the 12 million is fully guarenteed then they might not have been offering more than that. NFL players care about the guarenteed money.

Schefter tweets the Pats offer was lower. That's just bizzare.

More good stuff from the #Patriots tweetfeed:

Bad move by the Pats, disrespecting an All-Pro.  2 years, $10 million is an insult for a guy of Welker's caliber.  Signing with the Broncos is a big middle finger to the franchise.

Per Adam Schefter, former #Patriots WR Wes Welker has agreed to terms with #Broncos. Just what Peyton needed.
See ya on Oct 7th.

And there ya go.
Elway tweets it's a 2-year deal. Really confused right now, they must be paying him something like $13 million per I guess.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefterWes Welker lands a two-year, $12 million deal from the Broncos. Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker. Have fun, Peyton.
Wait, WHAT?!?!

This would be insane, and as another poster said, very Ray Allen-like.

Sticking it to the Pats.

Some fans... wow.  I'm not a Pats fan, but it's always amazed me observing the fan base how they have been totally content with going from a defensive team with enough on offense to get it done (and win rings) to an offensive team with a weak defense and they've been totally fine with this (and fail to win the rings).

Now make a few plays and sure they could have won, but the defense isn't there.

With Wes, this is a similar, I feel, ignoring of the facts among some fans (obviously this isn't most of you guys here).  Welker is bad at one thing (catching balls high thrown over his shoulder) and so he catches all the blame. On those particular plays he might have missed those catches, Brady didn't need to even throw the ball high.  But Wes takes all the blame, Brady dodges it.

It just isn't very realistic.  I see it amongst much of the Pats fan base at large.  Not all of course.

Seriously 2 million is the straw for an All-Pro... that's just too much.  And I would totally get it if it was say 4 years or what have you, 2 is perfect for Welker.

Just disrespectful.

Gosh, this really is Ray Allen all over again. The Pats paid Welker $9.5M last year, but wanted to drop to only $5M per?!? What's wrong with them.

And Brady's mad about this (understandably). Pats are in big trouble. If they even get Amendola, he's an injury waiting to happen. So they'll have, what? Edelman and Lloyd? Ugh.
