Shefter apparently reports Lloyd open to restructuring in order to stay in NY. Too many WRs all of a sudden?

Indeed I do.

Also from the Schefty bag, he is expecting two-year deals for both Freeney and Abraham, both to the Pats.

However, can't see anything on Schefter's twitter. Bogus?

Don't know what this means in terms of other additions to the secondary but we just resigned Kyle Arrington:

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4741056/source-patriots-agree-with-arrington

Didn't think he showed enough last year to deserve to come back.

I expected a resign of Talib or someone of his quality and to fill the slot corner with someone from the draft or a lower end free agent (or god willing a healthy Ras-I Dowling).

Hope this doesn't mean Bill isn't going to spend big on a legit cover corner.
We need depth at corner either way, so Arrington is probably a good piece to have if on a team-friendly deal. I thought he did ok in the slot last year. And with so many question marks surrounding Dowling and Dennard, you can't have enough CBs on this team.

4 years at $16M.. a bit more than I would've expected.
I hope we can bring back Talib.
Mike Reiss projected him for getting a 3 year 15m deal, so I guess its a bit of a discount, but the cornerback market is flooded with talent so I don't know if that was just market price.

I don't have a problem with bringing back Arrington as a slot corner and as a potential starter if an injury crops up or Dennard is out due to his arrest, but I would have preferred this deal get done AFTER we locked up Talib or one of the other legit cover corners.

I can't believe Rodgers-Cromartie took a 1 year 5m deal prove it deal with the Broncos. Would love to have seen him paired with Talib.

Gotta think Amendola, Lloyd (if back), Jones, and Slater are the only definites right now.

Looks like Denver finds themselves in a massive boo-boo.

Quote
Remember that Elvis Dumervil salary reduction news from earlier on Friday?

It might be time to forget all about that. Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos have released Dumervil after they did not get his paperwork regarding the reduction in salary from $12 million to $8 million until after the 2 p.m. MT deadline that made his original salary guaranteed.

According to Klis, the Broncos received the fax from Dumervil at 2:07 p.m. MT, seven minutes and one second after the Broncos had to pull the trigger to release Dumervil and avoid being on the hook for the full $12 million. The team could still re-sign Dumervil, but there would be different salary cap ramifications because Dumervil’s contract ran beyond the 2013 season.

So a settled situation that looked like another offseason win for the Broncos and John Elway has suddenly turned into a mess. They’ve got no Dumervil and will now have to scramble to find a way to bring him back or convince another free agent pass rusher to join their defense.

Never a dull moment in the NFL and, perhaps, a final sign that the fax machine is far from the most reliable way to be conducting business in 2013.

I'd glady take him as a cheap 3rd WR behind Nicks/Cruz.

Getting both seems like overkill doesn't it? They'd only be situational pass rushers with Ninkovich and Jones taking the bulk of the snaps (and I don't even know where Armstead projects yet either).

I'd be happy with either on a 2 year contract and take what you were thinking about spending on the other and put it towards beefing up the secondary (or maybe a coverage linebacker, additional WR like David Nelson).

Take Freeny, he will either continue his slide into mediocrity or be a beast to prove he hasn't lost it.

Now, that's a quality signing.

Resign Talib & I'd be a pretty happy camper at this point.
