It would be the coolest story ever writting of a path to a championship in my opinion.  With everything that transpired from almost beating the Heat last season, the whole Ray Allen saga, putting together the deepest team since 08, the big perfomance disappointment at the begining of the season, Rondo (our best player) going down, loosing Sully and Barbosa shortly after...etc.

The big three was expected to win the championship at some point after coming together.  This year, not even the diehard expect us to win it all.  It'll be so sweet...

I can only dream...

It would mean more because you can say I told you so to other Celtics fans and not just everyone else.

Not sure it would mean more, but it would be extremely special in its own right. Against all odds, the boston celtics shock the world and win banner 18. It would be a moment Id cherish and remember for the rest of my life.

I still don't think we can beat miami. If by some miracle we do and you say "Told ya so" It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I'm hoping to hear those words from alot of you soon because that means the celtics would have just done the unthinkable.

that's a pretty poor reason for it to mean more

I don't think it would mean more.  Winning a title after 22 years, and making the biggest turnaround in wins from one season to the next in NBA history, is pretty hard to top.

The odds are SO stacked against them this year that I can't help but feel like the euphoria of winning a championship might just be greater than the euphoria of winning it all in 2008.  It's tough, that 2008 championship exorcised a lot of demons for this franchise, but I do love nothing more than a true underdog scrapping their way to the top of the hill.

To me it would mean more. That year we were probably the second most likely title favorite. This year if we would win it would be one of the biggest surprises in basketball history.

Also in order to win, we would need, Green and Bradley to take the next step in the playoffs. If our young players stepped up it would mean the continued success we crave as fans.
DKC:  Rockets

It was not likely to happen before the injuries; it's not likely to happen now.

But, if by some circumstance Miami got hit by the injury bug, clearing the way in the East, then any sort of a title during a clearly transition period would be special - and would clear the way for the franchise to move on in the new direction with which the title was won.

It would be one of the most positive moments in Celtics history.

I'm pretty sure being able to tell both Celtics fans who wanted to blow it up and Heat fans to suck it is one of the more awesome reasons out there.

That wouldn't separate this title from 2008. If you were here then, before the team had played a game, there was a fairly large number of people who felt that the team Danny had assembled would top out at ecf contender. I don't recall a single "I told you so" post after they won, I guess all the happiness got in the way of the pettiness.

Good Question.

I think it would easily mean just as much.

Folks have been writing us off since 09-10. That's understandable.."Too Old", PG that "Can't shoot", lol...

I think we were accepted as contenders in the basketball circles in 08-09, up until KG and Powe's injuries.

09-10? We shocked the NBA circles by getting to the Finals.

10-11? Finished with a good record, but injuries really tore into that group.

11-12? Injuries.....even older team..Rondo really improving, but again injuries (AB, Wilcox, Green) hurting the team.

12-13? Lost Rondo, Sully and Barbosa...all three important, but Rondo and Sully even moreso.....team has amazingly went on a run since then. But I think we're still being written off - by even "US", lol....

I think it would easily mean as much as 07-08.

I have loved all our championship teams, our "almost" teams, and even our "shouldn't, wouldn't, couldn't, and didn't" teams.

To win a championship this year would mean a lot to those players who were not on the '08 Celtics, mean more to those who have not won a championship before, but mean a the most to PP and KG.  It would cement their legacy in Boston, while doing it under the most difficult circumstances...split of the big three; heart surgery, rehab, and return of  two members of the team; double shoulder surgery and rehab to their defensive specialist; the All-Star Point Guard missing the second half of the season; injury to a potential ROY causing him to miss the second half of the season.

Sounds impossible.  There is a difference between improbably and impossible.  To quote Kevin Garnet, "Nothing is Impossible!"
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.

It was not likely to happen before the injuries; it's not likely to happen now.

Put Rondo and Sully on this team with the rest of the players healthy and having figured out what they're supposed to be doing on defense and you'd have a team that was tough to beat in the playoffs. Imagine taking last year's ecf team, switching Terry for a hobbled Ray and adding Bradley, Green and Sully. That's what we'd be going into the playoffs.
