Personally, what happens on the court stays on the court. But that doesn't mean that the league should stand for it.
The Philippines is not a bad place to play if abroad. You don't have to travel for games for the most part since all the games are in the same place. The cost of living is very low. You can get around fine speaking English in malls and in restaurants. Also, your teammates probably all understand English so you can communicate with them. And the #1 sport in the country is basketball by a mile.
The team names can be pretty bad though. Like Purefoods TJ Hotdogs (where TJ = tender juicy). Hard to retain dignity with that name.
I have no idea what the pay is like though.
