His three-minute stint vs. IND was very good. I don't know how he's done in practice.

Note that our next two games are against his two past teams. I kind of expect a blowout against OKC, so he'll probably play, and he should definitely play against Charlotte. I hear he "has some juice" because Charlotte didn't offer to resign him.

I think we give him another ten-day and then sign him. We'll see.

If he can rebound, he's a keeper. That's all I can say with my knowledge of him.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I don't see who they're going to bring in and start acclimating to the system now who's going to be better than White and Randolph, so I'd just reup them again and then probably sign them both through the end of the year.

I prefer an option not given in this poll:

- sign him to a second 10 day contract and let's wait and see what else is available before making a decision on him.

I don't we know much about him.  But I believe he's a legit NBA player, just not sure if he's a key cog or not.

Since the March 1 deadline is passed, it's not like there are additional players who are likely to become available in the next ten days.

I don't understand how all the rules on this work today as I don't follow the NBA THAT closely...  So pardon my ignorance. :)

D.J. White was spotted on the Celtics' team plane, indicating they plan to sign him to a second 10-day contract.
White joined the Celtics after playing in China earlier this year. He had two rebounds in four minutes in his lone appearance since signing his first 10-day deal.

If a player is on a NBA roster, he has to be waived by March 1 to be eligible for the playoffs for another team.  He doesn't have to be signed by March 1, he just has to be off the other team's roster by then.

Anyone happen to catch the Hawks game live friday night?
White did not play, but TWilliams did for maybe 3 minutes. His Defense was terrible. Continued to lose his man on the defensive side of the court..

All these 10 day contract guys will not make a difference. That is why there playing outside of the NBA..

If Ainge had a chance to trade for JSmith without giving up Pierce then he was a FOOL for not doing so..

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
If we decide to sign him until the end of the season a team option for the next year would be great, so that we could include them in a potential trade next year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah, it's the smart thing to do.  Gives Ainge more flexibility.    Will make for a more interesting pre-draft period, and then later, if no trades happen around the draft, prior to the season.

Not sure what NBA minimum salary is these days, what, around 800K?  Between White and Williams, Ainge would have an additional 1.6M to play with in outgoing salary, and the receiving teams could cut these guys if they were in salary dumping mode.  Definitely seems like the way to go regarding signing the guy or not.  It's not like there's anybody much better out there to pick up anyway if we just dropped him .

This is pretty much Jordan Crawford's deal too, right?  Good strategy.

I agree that DJ White just needs to be a solid big who can rebound and play some defense. With the 2nd year oprtion, you can also bring these guys to camp next year and especially for White you might develop him into a solid rotation young big with some upside.

Bradley, Sullinger, Crawford, White, Melo, Joseph ...some good young talent

Joseph isn't with us anymore. Nor on The Red Claws.

Plug in T-will then. My point is that Ainge has done a good job of reloading with young talent.
