After watching Fab play extended minutes last night one of my first thoughts was how Tyler should have been brought in after being cut by the hawks.

Nothing against Fab. I think he will eventually become a rotational defensive big. He seems to rotate well and more well from side to side. He doesn't seem like a very energetic rebounder and I don't think he has the hands to ever excel on offense. Im thinking he will be jason collins 2.0.

Tyler has more raw potential than Fab. He is one year younger than Fab. They both are similar sizes being around 260lbs with 9'2" standing reaches. Tyler has show in the D-league to be the better rebounder and offensive player while Fab is the better shot blocker.

If both pan out they could form a decent center by committee rotation .

Tyler's a knuckle head supreme.  Pass.

Was.

He's very skilled and still too young.
The Celtics aren't going to be able to get any kind of impressive talent walking through their door until after KG and PP are gone. Even in this draft they are picking late enough that they might decide to stash a Euro or if they do pick a guy they probably won't be able to contribute much immediately.

Yes this kid is a total bonehead, but we have such a strong locker room and leaders his attitude/behavior shouldn't have much effect on our guys and their attitude should only be positive for him.

The talent is undeniable and we are in no position to be passing up on risky opportunities. Pick this kid up and hope that next year he can be a surprise bright spot and finally live up to his billing. If not at least he comes cheap and can be cut.

Can't see how we lose here.

I don't know why I have this feeling of defending Jeremy but I will.

That thing where he went pro before his senior year is done. Those years where he was playing pro, at age 17 where he was yelling at coaches are all from the past. He was a very good teammate at Golden State, and if Carl Landry did not sign for the Dubs, he was projected by the Bay Area media to be the backup PF for David Lee. He's not the young and immature Jeremy Tyler that we saw on sports news a few years ago. This kid is an NBA player.

Everything else I completely agree.

I'd like to see Tyler go to someplace like China for a season. I don't think I would want to bring him in for a look if he failed to handle the experience well, even if he showed obvious ability on the court.

Why bring him to China when he's already playing great in the D League, which I think is a better league than the CBA?

He's #2 on the D League's best prospect watch right now. He's playing great outside of his turnovers against players who are better talent than the CBA guys (no disrespect).

This kid is ready to contribute to an NBA team. He has size and athleticism and raw but undeniable talent and skills. We should give this kid a shot next year.

I had no idea what kind of teammate he was at Golden State, but I can only assume that some concerns remain about his maturity level and whether or not he has his head on straight since no team has taken a flyer on him.

This kid has tremendous talent. I'm talking averaging double-double kind of ability. There has to still be some red flags that suggest he is not ready for the NBA level otherwise a team would have already snatched him up.

I really hope he has matured and I hope even more so that Danny will at the very least take a long look at him as a guy who could contribute next year.

It's not about the quality of play, it's about him demonstrating the maturity and discipline required to handle the off-the-court aspects of living overseas.

He was riding the bench with GSW during the time and was also bounced in and out of the D League. Got traded to the Hawks and was released, now back to the D League and is playing like a good NBA player. I think he matured quite enough already.

Couple of years ago he was interviewed for the "path he took" to get to the NBA. He sounded mature enough and his outlook.

I think he's ready. We need to snatch him before someone else does.

I thought he was highly interesting prior to his draft. I'd like to get him in our summer league and have him give Fab a run for his $$$.

Like the OP, I also wanted Andray Blatche.
