I feel like noone ever talks about this guy, yet he is very important as he is the backup big to KG....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Wilcox#Regular_season

its important to know his numbers and what hes capable of. I hope he contributes significantly in his role.

Only if Doc plays him, sometimes it seems like he forgets we have bench guys.....

There is a very good reason no one talks about him.

I think it's a crime to give Jason Collins significant minutes when you have a man like Wilcox.
When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

Yes, I know Jason Collins played good defense. But he had no offensive game and he also can't rebound. Overall, Wilcox is much better, and I'm glad that Doc has been forced to release him from the dog house.

Wilcox had 14 points and 8 rebounds in his first game after Collins left. Collins has 14 points, total, since Jan. 22, and hasn't had as many as eight rebounds in a game since December of 2010.

wilcox is finally playing well. And it took a scare to be traded to come alive

Collins was much better all year long, bc while he was like a dinosaur , you had to appreciate how he was a pro on the court. He never took a play off, executed rotations, picks, battled players much better than him etc. He was just consistent.

Wilcox hopefully keeps playing the way he has. Outside of his nice dunks, i do appreciate his hard fouls not giving up game changing easy dunks/points

What's there to talk about?  ::)
How about him leading the team in offensive efficiency?
Or
How he has a higher +/- than, Bass, Rondo, Lee, Bradley, Barbosa and Collins?
or
How this team should be much improved giving Collin's minutes to him?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Quite a bit to talk about for those of us who thought the team is an impact big away from making playoff noise this year...

Since Wilcox is, apparently, the person we're counting on to be that guy...

A former high first round pick now a min-contract player with a history of inconsistent health and effort and the longest streak of games played without a playoff game.

A peak-performing Wilcox gives us a puncher's chance at winning the whole thing.

That's amazing. Except when it happens over an average of 13 minutes per game -- it's also quite irrelevant.

In another shocking development, we've given all of Collins minutes to Wilcox since the trade deadline, and the team has played pretty much the same.

His production has been better than Collins, maybe as far as wins and losses this team is the same, but I think we are better. We are more likely to win when improving our production even if it is in the minutest of ways.

I think all the OP was trying to say with this thread is Wilcox is playing well and it has made our team better if only by the slightest of margins.

All I'm trying to say is that his production is so marginally better that it's irrelevant. You could probably replace him with Randolph with the rotation right now, and not skip a beat.

As a matter of fact I won't be surprised if this happens by the end of season -- Randolph is a better defender, better rebounder, and rumour is he has a jump shot.

I don't think it's irrelevant. If a terrible player was getting 13 minutes a game, that could be a serious detriment to his team; conversely, if a decent player is getting 13 minutes a game, he's going to be helping his team, at least in some small way.

Wilcox may shoot "only" 2 or 3 times a game, and he may "only" shoot within 3 feet of the rim, but he makes a higher percentage of those shots than anyone else on the team. I call that relevant.

Furthermore, he had open-heart surgery last year, several months after Jeff Green, who only recently has really started to look like he's regaining his rhythm. If you've had heart surgery within the last year, and your coach gives you short and inconsistent minutes, that doesn't afford you the greatest opportunity to find your rhythm.

Among all Celtics bigs (and I'm not counting Green, whom I don't view as a big), Wilcox is the fastest, the best in the open court, the best leaper, the best finisher, and has shown over his career—when given a high number of minutes consistently—that he's a capable rebounder (a rate of about 8 per 30 minutes).
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

I am of the mind set that even marginal improvement to a team is useful.
However I think you will see at least one game from here on our where he is the difference in the game. I'm talking 15-20 and 10 in multiple games, and I am willing to put my TP where my mouth is.
