Yeah, ripped is not the same as in shape.
Honestly, being ripped is often not a sign of being in great shape. People who are ripped are usually working out glamor muscles as opposed to anything strictly functional. There is a reason so few professional athletes have six-packs or anything.
Even having fat isn't a sign that you aren't in shape. In fact, having a little bit of extra fat on you is actually good, because it gives you energy reserves. It lets you last longer/more stamina, at the slight expense of speed/explosiveness.
