The Wizards had McGee and Blatche for years. Since their PER is high (ranked 11 & 12 respectively and confusedly) that means they would've been a powerhouse if they still had both...at least according to the logic defying PER.

When PER says that Lowry, Fredette, and Bledsoe are better guards than Rondo, while Nene, McGee, Blatche, the Lopez Bros, Drummond, B. Wright, Greg Smith, Copeland, Splitter, and Ed Davis are better bigs than KG then who really cares what PER says?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I consider Rondo an All-star, but I've been saying Pierce and KG aren't all stars anymore for a little while now. We need another guy who can drop 20 nightly and help carry the offensive load. This team isn't going anywhere if Pierce and KG are stilly carrying a majority  of the load.

I don't know if we need a guy who can score 20.  What we definitely need is for the offense to stop relying on Pierce and KG to score 20.

Dead on. !!   Only thing I can add, is while ROndo is star , he is not the same kind of Star as a Lebron , MJ or even CP3... guys that can say "LOOK, I GOT THIS" you'll just hang on , I'm gonna win this game.

REmove CP3 from the Clippers and their record would be lucky to be 500.

ROndo is exceptional  "IF" he is has the OTHER STARS to team with... right now the rest of the team just isn't at star level.  Rondo NEEDS star players to bring out his best.... Imagine him with Lebron James or Kobe. Rondo doesn't want to shoot, we are forcing him.

I remeber when KG/PIERCE /ALLEN were still "GREAT" players, ROndo was killer as a rookie.

Rondo is better , but his star teamates can't GIVE the I'm taking over games like they once could .

Team needs guys like COusins, Milsap, Noah ,Varejao , Gortat who have "LEGs" and energy.

I think Danny overestimated how much fuel was left in KGand PP tank. And WAY over est. JET's abilities at this point.

If only we could have gotten OJ Mayo...

So, if we trade KG to the Spurs for Splitter, and Pierce to the Nets for Blatche, we'll be a top team in the league...  ::)

Sorry, "PER" is an absolute farce...  It probably could prove Kim Kardashian has common sense as well.

What we definitely need is to stop relying on offense to win games, and get back to work on the defensive end once again.

If Rondo's capabilities are limited to the players surrounding him, then we should really give up on him. That just sounded like he is a complementary piece.

And the Clippers minus Paul is a better team than the Celtics. Their bench is way too good to deal with.

PER could only have a little meaning when both players play around the same minutes per game, but even so, it's very tough to consider it a strong indication of performance or excellence.

Our stars aren't playing like stars right now.  And, yes, two of them are at an age where it's possible that they simply have too many miles on them to get it back.

However, I have a really hard time counting out Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.  I've simply seen too many premature reports on their demise over the course of the past five years.

I think they've still a got a little something left for this year's playoffs.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I think you're dead on with this. Rondo wants to run, his teammates (for the most part, some because of age) are half court oriented. And yes, Rondos game revolves around making his teammates better. He needs other star talent to quote on quote make better. I've been saying it for awhile, Rondo and DMC would be a great pair.

I think what people need to remember as well is that Danny is gonna be forced to trade for a star type player in the coming months, if for nothing more than to keep our own star Rondo here for the long run. Nothing would be worse than losing, than losing and the best player eventually walks...

On average RR (13), PP(20) and KG(15) combine to about (48)50 points a night. Then we count on Terry (11), Green(10), and Bass (8) for another (29)30. That's 80 points we know we can count on we still need another 20. Where do we get that from? Lee, Sully, and Collins?

I'd prefer getting a scorer who you can count on for 18+ nightly with the potential for more, preferably a big. Cousins would fit right in.

PER is a load of garbage.

I am not vouching for PER as a stat, but you can't say you have "stars" on your team when you don't have 1 player in the top 40.  KG and PP were both in the Top 30 two season ago, and KG was 34th last year.

Fact is - they aren't playing like All-Stars anymore.

PER is not saying that they are better than Rondo, it is simply saying that Rondo is not producing to the level that they are given the same statistics.

I would never argue that McGee and Blatche are All-Stars, but when they are on the court they are producing.

Our "stars" right now are producing at a lower level than those players who you consider to not be stars.  Thus, we have no stars.

That's a ridiculous hypothetical.  And again...I am not here to defend Hollinger's stats (though he was just hired to run the Grizzlies, so my guess is he knows more about this than you do.)

But really, is it crazy to think that a trade involving KG that netted us Splitter would make us worse?  Maybe it would, and I wouldn't do that deal.  PER doesn't capture defense and leadership well, we know that.  But in other areas of production, it works just fine.

All I am saying is that production has fallen off for our Big 3...and they are no longer producing like stars.

stars or no stars ...the point is C's are losing and losing to teams they should be beating and getting blow out to boot, be it from being out-classed or lazy or Doc...

Right now the Celtics are a TEAM (everybody is accountable)  and a team of losers showing little spirt on the court.

Something has to change .  If I'm the owners , I'm gonna be chewing on Danny's ear.
