Avery is supposed to come back to practice this week and tomorrow would be the day for that to happen since that will probably be our only practice of the week. Anyone hear any news ? We NEED him.

I fear too many people are heaping a ton of expectations on Avery like he's going to turn our season around. Remember people he just came off DOUBLE shoulder surgery it's going to take him a long time to get right
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Agreed.  I expect the C's to continue to struggle for a while after AB comes back.  He will not cure us of all of our defensive struggles, but he ain't no band-aid either.  His disruptive defensive presence, both on- and off-ball, is undeniable.

There is a ton of room for defensive improvements, and I expect the C's to make them as the season progresses, similar to last year.  AB will be part of a defensive renewal that brings us back to a top-5/top-7 defense by the end of the season.

Couldn't be too soon...

IMHO the return of Bradley is the pivotal point for this team.  If I were the GM I would remain patient until Bradley returns, then give it about 10-15 games to see how contributes and how the team response to their new roles.  It's possible we could be much stronger once we have Terry, Lee AND Green all coming off the bench - combined with Sullinger and Wilcox that's a very strong second unit, and maybe that alone could be enough to transform us.

If Bradley returns and returns to his previous season's affectiness after the first 10-15 games but the team STILL continues to struggle, then I'd put Collins, Lee, Bass and Barbosa out on the trading block and see who bites for any combination of those guys plus any number of picks.  If it's needed to help sweeten a deal and bring a consistently productive player here, I won't think twice.

I don't care if it's Pau Gasol, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap or Marcin Gortat - as long as we get somebody who is going to come out and give us consistent 10/10 production (give or take) every night I am happy.

Either one of those guys is going to bring close to a double-double average, and having another big that you can DEPEND on to give you scoring and rebounding every night will take tremendous pressure off KG and Pierce to have to force things and carry the load.  Plus our depth would not suffer much because we'd still have Terry, Green, Sullinger, Wilcox and whoever else we get in the trade (plus Joseph and Melo available for Call-up).

I thought this team on paper looked better than last year. The record is worse and they seem to be over the hill and lost as team.  Going no where FAST....oh well ::)

At least I get to watch KG.

Probably so regardless. AB cannot protect the rim for us. We need a good big man down low when KG is out. This season is really frustrating. Can you imagine if we had Green or Terry offense last year against the heat? Our O seems way better than last years but our D sucks. Docs coaching is also leaving a lot to be desired IMO. we have plenty dribble drivers. We need another big who can rebound and post up down low. Doc needs to tell them to attack the basket all game long. Do not rely on jumpers so much.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

I think with a  healthy bradley the defensive attitude takes a huge upswing.  Also the disruption he creates with a 24 second clock really makes an impact.  I would actually like to see a change as well.
starting team, rondo, bradley, green, kg and sully
This doesn't mean sully or green are better than bass or pierce.  I think this moves improves the team as a whole.  Green becomes a focal point on offense, he gives us a low post presence (USE HIM ON THE BLOCK!) and this team can run.  Sully's defensive lapses are improved as he is playing with kg, rondo and bradley.  Sully is our best rebounder unless kg is closer to basket.
With this starting unit your first subs are terry and pierce.  Rondo gets his minutes kept down right off the bat.  Pierce comes in and can handle the offense with terry and bradley.  Bass can come in for KG or Sully and Wilcox as well.  This second unit would have terry, bradley, pierce, bass and wilcox.  That is 3 shooters (bradley 4?) and wilcox.  Good unit.
end of game
rondo, bradley, pierce, green and kg

He IS going to turn the season around or at least start the process. And as far as the shoulders go, he was good with bad shoulders, he is going to be otherworldly with good ones.

How's that for reasonable expectations :P
