"The league will post a list of regular season flopping violations on its media web site, just as it does with technical fouls and flagrant fouls, so the names of the violators will be public."

cant wait for this. CP3 and blake griffin will be #1 and #2

I think overall it's a decent effort by the league to cut down on flopping, but since they won't be called or reviewed during games, critical flops/subsequent fouls that sometimes affect the outcome of games, will unfortunately still be very much a factor.

Clearly, if a player has the choice in his mind of using a flop to make a critical difference in a game, and taking the chance of getting fined, they're going to flop anyway.

The long-term effect will be interesting, but it's still a post-game, post-outcome matter, and will change very little on the floor, IMO.

Pretty funny clips, though ... love Tony Parker's and Reggie Evans', but Chris Paul gets the Oscar.

Actually this is quite brilliant.  The real punishment is not the fine but the public embarrassment.  Furthermore the refs will have a list of known floppers.  A ref might have to think twice about giving the proven floppers the calls.

The fine really is negligible. I think the impact will be from the releasing of the floppers' names to the public. It's a stain on their sportsmanship and warns the refs which players to keep an eye on. If I was a ref and calling a game where the number one flopper will be playing, I would be extra careful.
I moved the cheese.

Am I the only one that thinks they set some really lousy examples there, just so that they can call whatever they want to call?

I very much thought this same thing when the rule first came out.  "Big deal" i thought, at the end of games when it matters, players will accept the fine in order to change the outcome of the game.

But I think it is better than nothing, and I think Yogi's post (quoted below) points out that if refs know who these notorious floppers are, the refs will probably think twice about giving them that call at the end of the game.

The rule isn't perfect, but its better than what we had.

I was actually questioning whether the Gallinari one was a flop or not.  But after reviewing it, he did see the screen was there.  If he was blinded by that screen, his reaction absolutely would not have been an overembellishment.  I've ran into blind screens before that have just completely taken me out.

I want to see when the first obvious Lebron flop occurs that doesn't get fined or called. The over under on this is 5 games, most likely.

I'd wish they'd fine him everytime he fakes checking his eye/contact or whatever.

That's been his go to move after contact when he's not really feeling it but wants to sell it.

I'll take under 2.5 games.  I say at least once in either the Boston or the NYK games he will have an obvious flop and it won't get called.  I think he'll actually sail pretty smoothly after those 2 games though.  But those high emotion games are going to bring some frustration out of him and a need to get whatever competitive edge he can get.

My favorite Lebron sell is when he flops after getting hit by a 190 pound PG and stays on the ground because he has been temporarily hurt or stunned.

Lebron is the size of the Gronk and when little guys run into Gronk, they bounce of him. When little guys hit Lebron he sails through the air.
