If I'm not mistaken, Pierce's final year has only $5M guaranteed, could he be resigned for somewhere around 10-11M? Instead of his $15M hes set for? It's not a lot but could that extra hard cap space with a S&T could make J-Smoove an actual possibility? I don't know how much hes going to get or if it would even be close to what we could offer, but he's incredibly talented and wants to come here, which doesn't happen often!

The C's hard cap expires at the end of this season.  It really makes no financial impact on trading for more salary.

Pierce could be bought out of his contract for $5m, and then re-signed using either the MLE or vet min.  Highly unlikely this happens though.  Not much benefit for the C's in doing so.

I'd suggest that Josh Smith will be a max contract player, where ever he goes.

Looking at the rediculous contracts that have been given out to bigs these days, combined with Smith's potential and the fact that he's already practically an All Star, any less then max contract would be a big surprise to me.
