Ray who?

Who cares, he doesnt play for the Celtics.

He is the 4-5th best player on another team.

He is cuddling with the enemy now.

Let his play talk instead of his mouth.

That's how I'm movin on.  ;)

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
That guy is a joke.

A diva, a supposed "consummate professional" who gets upset about the business of basketball, and deciding to stick it to his former team by joining the enemy for less money and lesser role, something he also BTW wanted a ton for him to stay here, which Boston was gladly giving him.

And I respectfully disagree Sir Roy. Sure I understand that the media is eager to ask him these questions, but he seems happy to air laundry to them. I mean, i thought he's class act? A class act would just say "negotiations didn't turn out the way we wanted for certain reasons" or "a better opportunity", instead that guy chooses to air out everything like a whining egomaniac.

I find him to be a loathsome creature.

Me too. Kinda like Gollum.

Both looking to recapture a ring at any personal cost.

Both spiteful and vindictive.

Both wiry strong creatures. Both with little or no hair.

Both having longevity longer than most folks of their kind (Hobbits and Hoopsters).

Maybe the next quote from Gollum will be: "Very tricksy those Celticses..."

Sad devolving of a delusional diva.

I don't see anything wrong with the "let's move on" thing.

He keeps getting asked questions about his departure by the media.  He's been accommodating to the press, answering those questions with more candor than he probably should have.

Now, he realizes all of this is a distraction, and is saying it's time to move on.  He's directing that at the media, not at the Celtics, I think.  In that case, I don't see a lot of room for criticism.

This.

Don't know why Ray still gets a pass. If this was anyone else they wouldn't get a pass

Just a few reasons as to why Ray Allen, IMO, still gets a pass:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpxtiQZiK2c

In THIS one, we should realize that not only is Ray Allen gone, but his Mom is too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA4xhK2s7hY

Just a GREAT Fan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RciLe9SUqVM

Plus, his countless ventures in the community....his donation of $30,000 for a computer lab in a BOS area school....his participation in marathons..golf charities....

This is why, IMO, Ray Allen gets a pass from GreenFaith1819, and will ALWAYS get a pass from me.

A pass is agreeing with Ray that the Celtics screwed this up. Roy's not giving him a pass, he's stating what he thinks Ray is saying.

Also, 'if this was anyone else'? I don't understand. If Paul Pierce did what Ray did, he wouldnt get a pass? Paul's nearly asked for a trade in the past, he's stated he will explore free agency when his contract is up. Nobody cared, cuz he's Paul freakin Pierce.

And Ray isn't just anyone else, he's built up a career of goodwill and given Boston dozens of fond memories from his time on the court, impacted hundreds if not thousands of lives with his work around the area. Having mixed feelings about him as a player is kind of conceivable.

I agree with Ray, it is time to move on, and for those out there who say he should just shut up already, I agree with that too. He's been a bit too public with his grievances. But I don't think Roy's giving him a pass by agreeing that Ray and the media should let this story die already.

It's more incumbent on Ray to kill this story than it is on the media.  The guys and gals asking the questions are going to keep asking them as long as Ray continues to give them something juicy and gossipy to write about.

Ray is fanning the flames.  I wish he'd stop, for his own sake.  If I really hated Ray, I'd want him to keep talking, because he's really embarrassing himself, and making himself look petty and egomaniacal.

I don't hate Ray, and I really want him to move on so I can just root against him as a basketball player, and not have to root against him as a person.

I get all that, except the egomaniacal part. I'm speculating, but I imagine Ray is a bit disturbed by the backlash from his decision, and wants to 'tell his side'. Everyone wants validation that they've made the right decision, I doubt Ray is any different.

Ray should really shut up, we all agree on that. I think even he agrees on that.

IP, I very much respect your opinion, but the egomaniacal part I very much agree with. And Allen is disturbed by the backlash, but he is also VERY SURPRISED...and here is where the egomania comes in.

Shortly after his decision to cHeat, Allen was referring to his public persona and image and quoted as saying something to the effect of "his fans in New England are his fans and they will understand and be accepting of my decision."

Translated, this sounds like Allen saying: I am Ray Allen. No matter what I do, my public image won't suffer because.....I AM RAY ALLEN. Sounds like a bad miscalculation based on an inflated perception of himself>>>>>egomaniac.

You guys remember the Carmello drama?  How long did that carry on?  Everyone knew his contact was expiring, everyone suspected he wanted out and wanted to go to NY, but when the reporters asked him questions his response was always along the lines of:

"What happens later happens.  Right now I am a Denver Nugget, and that all I'm focussing on."

When KG was asked about Ray, what did he say? Something along the lines of:

"I knew you guys were going to ask me about Ray, so I'm going to answer this ONE time, and then I'm ever coming back to it again."

What he said is that he has no interest in talking to Ray, but he wishes him and his family all the best - honest about how he feels, yet no attacks and no pointing fingers.

So tell me this - when Ray was asked by the media about his decision, why didn't he just say something like the above?  Why didn't he just say:

"I loved the city of Boston and the fans and I will always remember my time there, but right now I want to focus on my new team and my new goals."

If he came out and said something like that, reporters would get bored and the fans in Boston would still respect him - even after his treacherous move haha

Sure we'd still want the Heat (and hence him) to loose as badly as possible, but we'd still respect Ray.

All of this hate - he really has brought it on himself.

It's not about getting "a pass".  But seriously, people are attacking / criticizing him for saying "let's move on"?

People who have an issue in Ray saying "let's move on" are maybe having a hard time letting go themselves, don't you think?

Ya know, if Ray had simply said the perpetual trade rumours were tough on him and his family, that he is looking forward to having great players like Lebron, Wade, and Bosh make the game easier for him, and that he is looking forward to padding his record 3pt total, then I'd be fine with it.

Of course, some would be screaming that he was knocking Pierce, KG, and Rondo, but that's fine because everyone outside of Boston knows that they are better than our top players right now, expecially offensively.

But he's still talking like an insulted superstar and can't carry the load anymore.  Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if his ankles go midseason again.

Like everyone, I started off angry when he left for the Heat.  Then I let it go and got excited about our season and so many promising pieces- Lee, Jet, Sullinger, Rondo, etc.  But lately he's let all the dirty laundry out to dry in some attempt to clear his name.  Putting blame on the Celtics ownership?  Blaming Doc for not caring?  And I just saw a headline on ESPN from Ray... "After this Celtics game, we need to move on".

LOL WHAT?

No Ray, YOU need to move on.  KG has deleted your number.  Pierce hasn't talked to you since then.  Rondo has stomped out as much conversation on you as possible.  The only one talking is you and technically Doc since he is asked questions point blank about your recent comments and forced to talk about you.  YOU are the one who went out of his way to set up three interviews with major newspapers so you could get your personal two cents out in the news.

Cripes, what a joke he has become.  Favorite player now one of my most disliked.  What a snobby self entitled brat.

Yea definitely an egomaniac , but what would you expect from someone who played a character named "jesus" who was the chosen one in "who got game" starring next to denzel?

The c's offered twice the money and no trade clause. Ray is just a bitter, delusional, egomaniac . Can't wait to see Lee and Bradley shut him down while Terry lights him up.

And to think, Allen Iverson was Spike Lee's first choice to star in He Got Game, until Iverson declined the role. Ray's got a big "Jesus Shuttlesworth" ego from being 2nd choice

Yeah, but I get it.  When Ray and KG were traded here, it was all about the three superstars and all that, and now Paul and KG are still making big money, and he isn't.

Another snub in his view, perhaps.

Obviously, the shift to role player is not an easy one to experience.
