Uhh... no. As much as I like him, there are many issues revolving around him. We are also deep in guard rotation so I don't think we need him anymore. I'd rather let Joseph learn from the likes of Jet and Pierce. Plus, he have more upside too.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I actually think Joseph is worth keeping. From what I've seen he's pretty solid and has the potential to be a very nice bench player in the near future. I think Joseph could be a Pietrus type of player, good athleticism, defense, and solid shooting.

No, we have enough guards. The addition of Barbosa, which I think is good enough to back up Rondo, should resolve the back up PG problem. I rather keep Joseph because if something would happen to Green or Pierce we going to need a back up SF.

Hell no there's a reason we didnt take him back last season and let him go to Dallas... way too much baggage. Not only do we have enough guards, but why would we cut a guy who looks like he could end up being a solid player to sign the baggage Dallas just rid themselves of?

IF Danny makes a mid-season trade where we lose some depth at the guard position, and Delonte is still available.
That's the only way I see the Celtics maybe think about signing him.

The two things I remember when we had Delonte were his wrist being broken [what felt like] 2 games into the season, for the whole season, and him getting a fight with one of our 3rd string guys. I cannot believe people are talking about bringing him back. I could say that I'm empathetic and I feel for the guy...but really I'm not and I don't. He's made millions of dollars and failed to adequately medicate or get himself counselling so he's not getting arrested or being violent/disruptive. Not only do I not want him on the Celtics but I also don't really want him in the NBA. I feel similarly about Ron Artest.

Disabilities are something you have to live with but if after 8 years of being a professional and 11 years of being an adult you can't keep yourself out of trouble then it's probably something you need to step back and deal with. If it's Royce White with an anxiety disorder that is one thing, he's young, just came into means and working pretty hard to make his way in the league so far as I can tell. Also Royce isn't violent. Violence, gun possession, repeated drug use...deal breaker. I'd only consider putting up with that if he's all-star caliber and even then it would give me pause.

No on Delonte. I'd rather have Joseph, or even an open roster spot.

royce white assaulted a security guard twice after walking out of the mall with a bunch of clothes, among his many other non-violent episodes.

Naw that would be bad karma  cutting Joseph , hes a good dude ,  a potiental decent "CHEAP" SF backup for Pierce ( his hero anyways), in case we land Josh Smith and don't have Green /Bass around.

Maybe DA can find a way to stash him away in Maine.

Would anyone seriously want Delonte after getting suspended twice in 10 days from his own team?

I know I wouldn't.

I think the fact the Delonte wasn't back for the minimum last year was a pretty strong sign that Doc and Danny have had their fill of dealing with him.  I get the feeling that they both care about him as a person, which is why they gave him the second chance they did...but I don't think they want the headache anymore.

The issue is this: we already have 5 guards and none of them are really guys you want to swing to the 3.  Lee could do it, but no one else can.  Delonte would simply add to that number and would never play.

Thus, we'd cut an option to play the 3 for a guy who will likely never play and potentially could be a distraction.

Not worth it.

Doesn't make any sense to sign him. Maybe if we hadn't signed Barbosa, but not now.

According to him and other reports he has a very serious mental illness and I hope he gets treatment that can help him. It's not going away if its bipolar and he'll have to learn to manage with it throughout his life.  He's likely to have productive times where he looks great and then horrible times.

It could be that the life of an NBA player is the worst thing for him.  Maybe he's better off settling into a home base where he can work at a less stressful job and have family and friends close by.  Hopefully he still has some $$ and a trustworthy person to help him manage it.

I always loved Delonte in Boston - just a hard nosed kid, seemed like a Celtic and was one of my favorite players.

However, we've signed Barbosa and I think He'll add just as much if not more than Delonte can.

Also, even though he's young, I like what I've seen of Joseph and like having a 3rd option behind Pierce and Jeff Green.

Also, if I was going to cut Jospeh, it would be to add someone like Pietrus for more depth at the 3. Still, I think I'd rather have Joseph, I think he has some decent long term potential.
