How do you feel about the present-future of the Celtics?

Could be a contending (reach ECF) team if it all works out.
Some nice pieces, but don't fit
Nice pieces, fit well, good team, but not close.
Good team, fits well, needs one piece (superstar, 1-position weak, etc.)
Liked those guys as practice bodies, but no hope/future for them.

I have always liked looking at teams based on grading the players. 10 being super star level,8 allstar, 5 being rotation player level, 4 and under impair their teams ability on that side of the ball

This years top 9
player O grade D grade

Rondo  9       8
AB     6       9
Pierce 8       8
Bass   7       5
KG     8       8
Terry  8       6
Green  7       6
Lee    6       6
Sully  6       5
      65      61

Team of Future

Rondo  9       8
AB     7       9 AB +1 o
Green  8       7 green +1 o and d
Bass   7       5
Sully  8       6 sully +2 O +1 d
Lee    6       6
Darko  4       6
Melo   3       5
Joseph 3       3
      55      55

This team of the future would be a perennial 1st round tough out in the playoffs. They would need to add a legit anchor at the 4/5 spot to go any further then that. I believe rondo will be a capable leader. Green and sully will make for above average 2nd and 3rd scoring options. For AB I expect him to progress as an offensive player. Bass and Lee would form a solid 6th and 7th man off the bench. Center will be the biggest hole.

Dude, KG is MUCH better than an 8. I would give him an 11. Our defense crumbles without him.

8 th place playoff team. Hell there should be only 8 teams in each Conference anyway. 16 teams is enough for the Country to support. Imagine how exciting every game would be then!! Like 82 playoff games and a Super Court playoff Championship.

If a conservative estimate of what remains after our core leaves is a perennial 1st round exit and no moves made...nice.

Take away the core of most other teams and leave just one of those players...I don't think they'd even make the playoffs.

The ceiling on AB, CLee, JG, Sully, Fab Melo, Rondo and even Kris Joseph are very high. Chris Wilcox and Barbosa are only 30 and can be valuable role players.

The potential in this team is one of the many things that are overlooked with these new look Celtics.
