From here:

http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/8548096/boston-celtics-not-interested-war-words-ray-allen-miami-heat

Quote
Allen sat down for three separate one-on-one interviews -- with The Miami Herald, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post -- last Thursday to clear the air well before the season opener. He said the friction with Rondo began in 2009 when Rivers and Celtics president Danny Ainge proposed a trade that would have sent Allen and Rondo to Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa and the 14th overall pick in the 2010 draft.

(Note: Phoenix didn't have the 14th pick in the 2010 draft, as far as I can tell; they had no 1st rounders at all. Phoenix did have the 14th pick in the 2009 draft, though: still on the board at #14 were Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, and Jeff Teague.)

Not sure what to make of this information, how much truth there is to it. Very interesting to think of what could have been, though.

They couldn't agree over who's gonna get the isle seat? This is getting ridiculous.

Yeah, it was the 2009 #1.

For the record, Celtics fans largely hated the rumor:

(Look at that smart alec mocking the idea of acquiring Ty Lawson.  Nice foresight there.)

Well, as a perrinial supporter of Ray Allen and what he did for BOS, I just wish he'd let it go at this point....all of this "he said, he said...supposed trades...almost trades....rumors of infighting between players and coaches/GMs...."

I mean, it's already been documented by Doc that he and Rondo had some clashes, but it was basically nothing more than typical disagreements that occur between players and coaches....

IMO, this is stuff that players/former players - just don't reveal.

To be honest, it's surprising coming from Ray Allen...C'mon Ray just let it go. He chose MIA, and I can certainly understand WHY he did it, and wish him the best.....but this back and forth mess is bothersome.....it just makes unnecessary fodder for the already over-loaded media.

There will already be enough drama leading up to Oct 30 without this mess.

I'm honestly wondering if someone is putting him up to this..

The more ray talks=the less I respect the guy.

Rondo at six years in shows more composure and class, Hell sully shows more at this point.

Just keep your mouth shut ray!  You left for whatever reason, we dont need your excuses/dirty laundry stories

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Assuming this is true, Rondo did not have a comment about it.

Yet the "consummate professional" is still yapping, having sour grapes about the business of basketball.

Still don't want to boo this guy when he returns?

  • KG IS THE KING
It's okay. I am watching Heat versus Wizards right now and Ray looks done. He is essentially a spot up shooter now, standing in one spot and waiting for the ball to get to him. He doesn't have the quickness and the mobility to take defenders off the dribble anymore. Any type of a slight contest will throw him off to miss. Defensively, his flaws are really exposed. It speaks volumes to how much the Celtics system was able to disguise Ray's defensive flaws.

Sorry I didn't read the interview yet but isn't it odd that he brings this trade up for one big reason?

He re-Signed with us the following year! So he was mad but then did us a favor and resigned but he's still mad about that and us almost trading him last year?

He really whines a lot. Can we think if any other guys who talk this much crap after leaving a team?

Cant be a very pleasant list

I saw this on CelticsLife earlier, I thought for sure it would have been on here by now, oh well, here you go...

Doc Rivers is done fighting the battle of words with Ray Allen. Chris Forsberg reports that the Celtics coach said, "'We're going to just let Ray keep talking... It's easier'" when interviewed earlier today. Doc is focused on creating a game plan to take down Miami, and I'm sure he just wants to get the distractions out of the way. Ray recently made headlines when he claimed that he and Rondo were almost traded to the Suns for Amare, Barbosa(got him anyway!) , and a 1st-round pick in 2009. "Asked about the potential Phoenix deal, Rivers said on Wednesday, 'I didn't even know it, so I'm surprised right now. I never knew that. I don't think that's true.'"

Rajon Rondo continues to stay out of the "#20" talk: "I don't know what happened or hear anything," Rondo said. "I just stay focused and hit the gym. I didn't read any papers or see anything on the news about No. 20." I know it's paradoxical to say let's move on even though I'm reposting it, but I'm glad to see our guys aren't getting caught up in the mud-toss. We'll let our play do the talking this Tuesday in Miami...

Doc (and Rondo) basically say he is lying but they rather not talk about the situation (Ray leaving) anymore!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
