I know it's a bit early considering the season hasn't even commenced yet but as a basketball fan, what playoff matches are you rooting to happen?

Obviously there's the Heat and the Celtics. Heat fans will try to tell you that this isn't a rivalry but the players would probably tend to disagree, ecspecially after the Ray signing. These two teams hate each other and that just makes for great basketball. Celtics have the athletisism and depth to challenge the Heat more than they were able to last season but the Heat still have the best player in the game in LeBron.

Also-

Knicks vs. Nets. The battle of New York. Best back court in the NBA vs. Best front Court.

Lakers vs. Clippers. Battle Los Angeles.

And of course Lakers vs. Celtics. 2010 vengeance.

Who has the best front court?

I want to see the Lakers miss the playoffs.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Bulls-Heat, 1st or 2nd round, with a healthy Rose.

Celtics-Knicks is always fun.

Grizzlies-Lakers - some fun matchups there.

Pacers vs Knicks ... Hibbert vs Tyson. David West against Amare. Carmelo against Granger and George. Both teams lacking playmaking guards.

Clippers vs Oklahoma ... CP3 vs Westbrook. Griffin and Durant. DeAndre Jordan vs Ibaka/Perk. Odom and Harden. Crawford/Billups vs Harden.

Knicks vs. Nets. The battle of New York. Best back court in the NBA vs. Best front Court.

... what?

Neither of these teams has anything that can be called a best back or front court.

The Nets back-court is Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. That, at least, is pretty good. Their front court is terrible.

The Knicks back-court is likewise terrible. Their front court is ... uh ... Melo if he plays the 4, though he prefers to be a wing player and has said so. Amare is washed up. Chandler is good, but not the best.

So ... what were you getting at?

Melo-STAT-Chandler would be the Knicks 'Frontcourt'.

Frontcourts are forwards+center.

And they're pretty good. I can't think of anyone who could field 3 all-stars at 3,4,5.

Maybe Minnesota? If Kirelinko and Pekovic really play out of their gourds.

You know Stern is going to try his hardest to get a Heat-Lakers matchup in the Finals. Remember the Lebron/Kobe puppets from 2009? That year, Lebron, Kobe, and Pau were the only stars in that matchup. This year, sprinkle in some Wade, Bosh, RAY ALLEN, Dwight, and Nash, and I guarantee Stern is salivating at the thought.

Celtics Lakers can also rake in a lot of TV ratings. While Heat vs Lakers also has potential to shatter records, but Cs vs Lakers definitely is another possibility.

Come on, two storied franchise and two historical rivals vs each other.

Kobe and Lebron finals matchup dream has been hyped up even in his Cleveland days. It can wait another year :-p.

I'd like to see a possible Lakers-Minny series...I think it could happen, too - with LA being a possible 2nd seed and Minny sneaking into that 7th spot somehow.

Roy vs Kobe

Rubio vs Nash

Love vs Pau

Pekovic vs Dwight...ok now THIS one would be rather difficult for Nikola, but I could see Love out-playing Pau in a scrappy series.

C's vs Nets -- see Rondo put an end to any speculation that Deron is as good or better than he is.  also watch Bradley stop JJ.  PP and Wallace is always a good matchup.

C's vs Knicks -- PP vs Melo and the C's frontcourt vs Amare/Chandler.

C's vs Heat -- send Bron, Wade, Bosh and Ray packing with a sweep.  Let the "one-hit wonder" name tag hang around Bron's neck for the next year.

C's vs Lakers -- because no title tastes as sweet as when it's at the Laker's expense and I love watching Kobe pout and sling blame when he loses.

Won't be watching any other non-Celtic matchups.
