It seems like starting these guys instead of feeding them into the lineup with starters forced their hand to show their goods. That they did. We have an exciting team. 1st half was miserable but then they came out pounding the boards and hustling and didn't wilt because the Knicks kept the pressure on for awhile longer. When the Knicks came back to Earth the Celts layed it on them. Walt Frazier and Greenie then realized the Celtics are to be contended with. Much to their credit they do give credit where it is due.

Green is in a no win situation to stay on the Celtics.

If he under achieves , he gets dumped becasue of his salary.

Then on the other hand if Green lives up to his salary or better , his value is higher ,making him a more likey canidate for a Josh Smith trade.

Only if celticsblog users are the GM. Maybe he'd stick if he lives up to his salary.

for now I'm comfortable with Green as the future SF and backup for PP .

I still think J Green may get alot better as his  energy and confidence returns.  He took too much of a backseat on an over loaded young OKC team. They dumped him to keep and play Harding as much as anything, IMO.

I hope he proves the value and stays , but if he don't then I won't cry if DA/Doc decide to bring Smith on board .

It has certainly been reassuring to see Jeff Green play well this preseason.  Coming back from a full season away from the game had potential to not go well.  At least we know that is settled.  He is back and seems to be no less than the player he was when we got him.

In terms of upside, I foresee him getting better, more comfortable but staying in the range of the player we are seeing and that he always has been.  Not a star, but a solid contributor with great versitility.  I will take that.  It is a big improvement for the team over last year.

Now all this Josh Smith talk, I think most everyone would agree that if we could trade Green for Smith straight up, that would be an upgrade.  But we can't because of money so any trade is going to include Bass or Lee plus maybe Bradley or Melo.  I think that is way too much as I think Smith is going to be overpaid by someone and I prefer it not be the Celtics who over pay him.

Timing is everything and I don't think the timing is right on Smith in terms of getting good overall salary value.  With the salary cap, you just can't affort to over pay especially the max-range guys.

its the same thing with Sullinger, everyone just looks at the stats and says "well its only pre-season!"

while it may be, just from the eye test I see a different Jeff green than we saw in his first year in boston..I am seeing someone who is being more aggressive/assertive offensively..

Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, 2013 1st

for

Josh Smith, Kyle Korver

makes a ton of sense for both teams if Jeff Green is the player we hope he is.

That's a pretty good deal from a talent perspective...but who would be Boston's back-up for Pierce?  Kris Joseph?  'Cause there's no way Korver can play major minutes defending LeBron.

I would absolutely love to see Smith in a Celtics uniform.  I've been banging the drum on this for a while now.

Trading Green for Smith is a bad idea.  Always has been since the moment we re-signed him.

Bass and Sully are the bait.  Bait Atlanta probably won't want.  There's always a sliver of hope, but the C's will need to persue other avenues to improve the PF spot on the team.

I don't see the celtics trading Green or Sullinger for Josh Smith. Both Green and Sully are well liked by Doc and the organization overall, and each have a ton of potential and fit a need going forward. Smith is a great player, but he's not worth trading either one of those guys for, especially considering his salary compared to Green or Sully. I can see us trading Melo, Bass, Lee/Bradley, and draft picks for Smith.

Can we get off Josh Smith until there is an actual rumor that the Celtics currently want him? We've seen rumors of him wanting to be here, but no rumors of actual discussion between the Celtics and the Hawks have taken place.

Seriously though, WHY DOES EVERY JEFF GREEN THREAD TURN INTO ANOTHER JOSH SMITH TRADE THREAD?! Why can't we just be happy with what we actually have?

Also, why not wait until things are actually going wrong? If things are going badly, then is the time to throw out trade proposals, but so far, seems like things are going right. There's no need to fix what isn't broken.

As for Jeff, I'm very excited to see what he can do, but the one downside to his performance is that Chris Copeland, a guy who might not even make the Knicks, had just as good of a statline. I loved what I saw from Green and I think he could be our X factor, but real competition hasn't shown up yet.

Well, all I'll say is:

And:

Take that, Hollinger, lol  ;D

Just keep being agressive, young sir!

Danny: PLEASE don't tinker with this roster for a bit - I think BOS has everything it needs now to play well into June...

I'd rather NOT give up the farm to get Josh Smith, even though I'd love him in Green.

I just like what we have here right NOW.

Don't fix what isn't broken.

If Super 8 is averaging 15/5 in 20-25 minutes, and we're winning games, I wouldn't ship him out. What's the point of it?

I know it's fun to speculate about these kinds of trades, but we really won't know what makes sense for the team until we've played a few regular season games.

Oh, and at this point, I'd much rather have AB and Green than Smith.

He is inconsistent still. One game good, one game 3-9 shooting. One quarter good, one quarter just watching the game on the court.

I feel that he is trying to get over this issue, but its still hasn't happened yet.

jeff green is our future replacement for pierce, smith could never be our pierce replacement because he simply cant shoot. Im all for grabbing him but using green as a trade piece isnt gonna happen.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Im really excited about Jeff Green right now.

He seems to be on a mission to prove himself to the NBA after missing the entire year.
