You are comparing the stats of a 24-25 year old Bledsoe in his best year to that of a 35 year old Brady in his 12th year in the league and you admit that the Pats currently have a better QB now than when they had Bledsoe in his prime?

If that doesn't tell you just how great a QB Tom Brady is I guess nothing ever will.

Of course I guess we all have to consider the source, a guy who thinks Tebow is a great QB. ;) :D ;D
I am admitting Tom's stats now are better than Drew's Super Bowl year when he was 24.

So first off I never said Drew was an all time great QB.

I never said Tom wasn't.

So this is my question I'd be curious to see answered. If Tom is so great why is he getting outplayed by the Russel WIlsons and Kevin Kolb's of the world? He has supposedly way better teammates than during his first super bowl for sure. So why doesn't he win? Why was he solidly outplayed by Eli Manning in the Super Bowl and Mark Sanchez at home the year before?

To me for three years he's been the Lebron that couldn't win. You know the one.  The one that you gave a dollar and could only give back three quarters.

Do you really think he could do what Tebow did last year? Do you think he could take over a 1-4 team and lead it to a win in the playoffs against the Steelers? With the teammates Tebow had? So why can't he lead this team?
They are five points from being undefeated. Brady can't kick that field goal in Baltimore. He can't stop Gronk from making a completely stupid and unnecessary hold on a late touchdown run. he did his job and put his team in a position to win those games.

As for the SBs, he didn't play Eli. He played against the best defense in the league at that time in both SBs. Give the Giants defense credit. They were awesome both years.

I do blame Brady for last weeks loss. Complete lack of good decision making on his part. He easily could have had 5 interceptions and the Pats would have been blown out if he did. All QBs have bad days, even the great ones.
Generally speaking I buy all that. But why is he getting outplayed by Kolb and Russell? Why Sanchez in a playoff game? Just bad days? And you didn't answer if you thought he could do what Tebow did last year.

He already accomplished what Tebow did. Its called the 2001-2002 season with a 2002 Super Bowl win in his second year.

The question should be "Did Tebow almost accomplish what Tom Brady did in 2001-02?". The answer would be no.

He took over an 0-1 team, not 1-4.

Well. He did that as a rookie, Now let's see him take over a 3-3 team and win a Super Bowl. He hasn't won one in 8 years. Tebow won two championships in that time.

No. I'm just saying Tebow's had a better last few years. I mean at least during that time Tebow won SOMETHING.

Ummm Brady won the MVP and took a much less talented team comparatively to the Superbowl.  Brady as been easing the patriots mistakes for the last 4 years.  If bellichick drafted better and schemed better defensively we wouldn't have this convo

Would you say last year's team was less talented than the 2001 Super Bowl team? I'm not sure I would. Jermaine Wiggins? JR Redmond? Greg Robinson Randall?

No but the rules have changed.  Watch the clips of that Super Bowl.  Had that been played today we wood still be in the first quarter with all the penalties.   In that game the patriots were less skilled than the rams butmout bodied them,  now you can't do that

I'd think that would sorta work to Brady's favor last year since the strength was on offense. No outbodying Wes or Gronk or Hernandez.

So the D seems better this year. The running game is better. So Brady should go to the Super Bowl, right? Is that what we're predicting?

I really loved Bledsoe. He was the best passer we had ever had.  Grogan was solid, versatile and tough, but Drew could seriously throw a ball.  The most exciting football moment for me in 2001 was when Drew threw the TD pass against Pittsburgh -- I all but wet myself.

That said,  Brady still needs to go down about 2 notches to get to Bledsoe's peak.

The front 7 is better, the secondary is just as bad which in this nfl lets Russell Wilson light you up.

Also, a healthy gronk and we woulda won last year, but woulda coulda shoulda.

I liked how you named some of the worse players on the team who weren't even starters instead of the guys who really contributed. Guys like Antwoain Smith, Troy Brown, etc.  Also, the defense was filthy.  Ty Law was basically Revisesque as in guys would not even bother throwing on him.
do it

Greg was a starter. If I remember correctly JR especially and I think Wiggins too made absolutely critical plays during that last drive to get the team to field goal range.

If you want to say Troy Brown and Antoine Smith were better than Wes Welker and Stevan Ridley go right ahead. You'll hear no argument from me.  And who's the better QB? Brady 2001 or Brady 2012?

Prime Bledsoe was probably about as good as Brady now, though I do think you'd have to structure the offense differently to maximize what he could do.

Brady started his career off by being super "clutch". Now he's suddenly "unclutch" based on the past few seasons. I think its somewhat age, but mostly just a sign that "clutch" play is random noise based on how good the player is all the time.

Pats real problem is an awful pass defense. Its hard to win in the NFL when you can't cover or rush the passer. The fact they can is a testament to how good the other areas of the team are.
