Hey if he was unhappy then he made the right decision to leave. Plain and simple.

I think in the quote he's trying to say that he felt he was much more important to boston than $6/yr for 2 years. If Boston didn't value him to give him the contract he felt he deserved then he'd go elsewhere. Taking more $ in a bad situation is only worth it if you take a lot more $. Ray didn't feel like it was enough.

He took half to be in Miami because they are the odds on favorites to win this year. There isn't any rocket science here. He took less to win, just like Courtney Lee did here and just like Manu Ginobli did in San Antonio. You take less to be happy and have a 2:1 chance at winning a title.

I'm grateful that Ray helped us get #17. I'll always remember him for that as well as for leaving to the Heat. As far as I'm concerned he's back at zero. No number in the rafters for sure but no hatred either.

While I respect ray and am happy for the time he put into the celtics he'd do much better to not put out comments like this.  He comes off as spoiled, pampered and having a loss of reality.  If he accepted a bench role he could add more years to his career.?
It'll be interesting to see how much p.t. he gets in miami when the season starts.

ray allen keeps sticking his foot in his mouth every time he talks. is this an effect of joining a team w/ lebron? ha. seriously, though, this is absurd. ray has valid reasons for wanting to leave (better offense for him, warmer weather), but the disrespect angle is nonsense. the nba is a business. yeah, he was on the trading table, but we asked for a ton for him and never pulled the trigger. how many times has this happened w/ pierce and rondo? they're clearly mentally tougher than ray, because they didn't throw a temper tantrum as a result. also, all the stats show we were much better on offense and defense with avery starting. is avery better than ray? no. is avery better for our team than ray? absolutely. so, the "they tried to trade me" and "they took my starting job from me" arguments are not helping him. and we all know the money side...we offered much more than miami or anybody else. so...ray, be a man and say it was the better offensive fit. the disrespect stuff is garbage. and, btw, i'm pretty sure it was partly the fit, but mostly the insane ego that drove the move. ray at 32 had a right to have that ego. ray at 37 is crazy to think like that. thanks for banner 17, ray, and expect a standing ovation and then more boos than you've ever heard in your life when you next play in the garden.

You have to think at some point if this was all just about 'what is best for Ray & his family' that he would eventually just politely stop answering these questions.  I know the media wants to play it up, but if you are a person who just wants to move on and play for you new team wouldn't you eventually just say 'next q, I have answered that too many times.."

Since he isn't doing that, it feels like he is trying to justify his decision to everyone and himself, and it makes him look a bit foolish if you ask me.

I understand how Ray Allen felt because I'm in a similar situation and believe that I think similarly to him. I believe he's comparing himself to his peers or fellow Hall Of Famers (PP + KG) on the team. He saw that he wasn't treated nearly as well. (on the trading block, contracts in length, $$$, etc) He's smart, understands the reasons (KG is the best player on the team playing an important big man position and is King at defense and PP being a life long Celtic) but 'understanding the reasons' still would get under ones skin. He knows he's not the same player he used to be but busts his ass to be in top shape when KG + PP came in out of shape during last lockout season. He sees his 'hard work' didn't matter that much. He left out of that fustration because the $$$ difference wasn't big enough (for someone who's made millions and millions in his career). However, to go to Miami (or LA) was probably his way of "Sticking It" to Danny Ainge and the C's for the treatment.

That said, he deserves to be booed because he's playing for the enemy now, not because he left us. The C's are too stacked 13-deep now with Fab and KJ in development. C's have the JET and Lee who 'want' to play here. We don't need 37 year old Ray. Let Miami have him.

For me, I'd never boo Ray. I'd boo LeBron or Wade, but not Ray Ray.
