Can Fab play the Hollins role of last year for us?

I think given some time in the D-League and some more experience with the older guys, he can contribute in a similar way to Hollins in the second half of the season.

Fab makes me laugh,  he is trying so hard to please KG....have you noticed how he checks over at KG after most plays are over .

He really wants to "get it right" and thats half the battle.  He is just "WILD" with energy, he needs to actually slow down , and focus and sorta relax and make better use of his energy.

He wants to have an offensive game .  Sooooo bad ... He is so wound up his shots are way off .

I think in time he'll feel more at home , the pressure , crowd, peers and all is about to blow a fuse in his brain.

He is long enough to get his shot off over most anybody , so when he finally does , its gonna be cool.

When Fab does get his Mojo going , he is going make alot of todays centers look pretty bad. But it is just gonna be a while.

I don't know, if Melo is a bundle of nerves ready to pop, getting his confidence up in Portland would probably help him relax. Sounds like it can't come soon enough, even if Melo is good enough to make the active roster early in the season.

Melo took 3/4 of a freshman season at Syracuse before he finally started to relax a bit.

Trips to Portland probably would have significantly boosted the development of Moore and JJJ last year, and those guys were 4 year college guys.

I'd bet that Melo would be relieved to be out of KG's sight for a week or two early in the year.

confidence is a big thing for a rookie...Melo reminds me of bradley his rookie year in alot of ways...alot of talent there, but you can tell when he's out there he's nervous and trying to do too much..

it wasnt until Bradley let the game come to him and gained confidence that he developed into a solid role-player

sending melo back and forth from maine to boston might benefit him.

He also did say Wilcox. Wilcox would be the 2nd best big we have defending the PnR (Bass is okay, length owns him though).

Disagree, they changed the rules this year so the C's can send the young guys to Maine as many times as they want. He can go play games in Maine and then be able to drive down to Boston the next day and participate in the c's practices and stay for most games at home .

This way he gets to play and still be part of the team

I got the pleasure of finding myself about 10 rows off the floor directly across from the Celtics bench for yesterday's preseason game. The most fascinating part of it was seeing just how much time Garnett spends on the bench yelling and coaching. On the defensive end it's literally nonstop, top of his lungs calling things out at the guy.

So I think those times where you're seeing him look over for approval is just him giving his attention to KG whose doing his best to coach him into becoming a better player.

As far as him playing a Ryan Hollins role - I doubt it. I don't think/hope the minutes will be there for him. Hollins played a small role out of absolute neccesity; with the improved depth that role shouldn't be there.

Here's what I'd guess is your playoff minute breakdown IF* everyone's healthy:

Garnett (35) / Bass (7)/ Sullinger (6)
Sullinger (13) / Green (12) / Bass (23)
Pierce (35)/ Green (13)
Lee (15) / Bradley (16) / Terry (17)
Rondo (40) / Terry (8 )

If that's the case, and I don't think my numbers are that far off - Fab, Milicic and Wilcox wouldn't be seeing regular minutes.

And even if so, of the 3 Melo's assumably the last guy to see anything that frees up.

Not a chance have you seen him play yet? Dude will be lucky to get minutes in the d league this year. He is going to grow and get much better... But man is he raw right now.
