As I said the other night, there are things to be excited about with this team, but I am not nearly as optimistic, of course, as most others. This team continues to be a turnover nightmare and I do not see that changing. Lots of other issues, like rebounding, etc. that must be improved. Cannot wait until there worthless exhibition games, that do nothing but get players injured, are over.

Centers are expensive for a reason , they are important , unless you have Lebron James on your team , who can jump over anybody .

I LOL'd when I saw this score...

I expect more games like this than not here in the pre-season.

I have a feeling that BOS is going to lull some teams into a false sense this season and then start taking teams out back to the shed when the games start to count.

One of those games is on Oct 30.

If this team goes full bore, I give us a realistic 55-60 wins. But we won't go full bore. Doc will rest - San Antonio-style - KG and Paul on some nights. Even Rondo, too, as well as Jet.

I think 50 wins is more in line with what Doc will probably do with some of our starters. The process won't be pretty, but I think we will like the end result.

I came to say one thing (well one main thing).

1)Sully is TERRIBLE on defense!

He rotates too slow, he never gets off the floor to contest shots, he gets ran around by faster (but still slow) bigs!

People talk about Bass' defense but he was never this bad and improved greatly during the season!

Sully may NEED to start (but he is not better than Bass no matter what most of you guys say), just so KG can cover for him on D.

I didn't think he was going to be THIS bad on defense but I almost threw my remote at the screen (not just tonight either... he was even bad before the NYK game but that game is when it seemed to be worse).

Oh how I wish Melo had Sully's brain/mentality. I wish Sully had Melo's defense.

I just could not believe what I was seeing out there, it almost looked like he was in cement on defense.


I really like Sully but I can't watch him on defense without cringing!

Not even. The main reason Celtics are losing alot is that in both the NY and Philly games, Celtics played the scrubs way more than the other teams. Look at that NY KNicks game. Doc played all 5 scrubs to win the game. I never take preseason seriously

After watching thes games AND seeing the stats I keep coming back to the same question..why in gods name are we playing Jamar Smith the most minutes out of all the rookies (bar Sullinger)?? 

Hell, why are we even playing the guy at all?

It is blatantly obvious that Jamar Smith is BY FAR the worst player on our roster right now, and might be in the running for the title of "the worst player to ever put on a Celtics jersey". 

Hell I didn't even know efficiency stat allowed a negative value!!

If you look at the other guys Christmas and Downs have obviously been the more productive of the young guys statistically.

Joseph has been less productive on the stat sheet, but I think he's been the most consistent and the most fundamentally sound (doesn't turn it over, dosn't jack bad shots, etc). 

* Christmas has done a solid job of scoring and rebounding while also playing some decent defense and keeping turnovers down.  He has also shot > 30% from the field (which is apparently good for this group).

* Downs has been pretty mediocre offensively (low shooting percentage and poor shot selection) but at least he's
hustled on the boards and has kept turnovers down.

* Joseph hasn't done a lot overall, but he's given us SOMETHING (either a point or a rebound) every game he's played while commiting not a single turnover.  He's not doing much, but at least he hasn't been a liability.

By comparison Jamar Smith has jacked up 5.5 shots per game and missed just over 80% of them, and he's had almost twice as many turnovers as he's had assists and steals COMBINED. He is the pure definition of a liability on the court, and we are clearly getting slaughtered every second he touches the ball.
