I hope this thread does not already exist, but I do not think we have had a second unit this strong on paper since the Bill Walton team. It is time to name the unit just like the unit featuring Bill Walton was named 'the green team'.

My submission is 'RUNdo's Army'because this unit is going to be a running team.

How about "Benny and the JETs", lol..."McHale's Navy"...Fantastic Five..

That 86 team had Bill Walton, Sichting, Scott Wedman, Sam Vincent, Rick Carlisle and Greg Kite....I even vaguely remember David Thirdkill having a decent game or two for us.

The 08 Team had PJ Brown, TA, Posey, Eddie House and Scal.

2012-13 team has Green, Jet, Sully, AB or Lee, Wilcox and Darko.

If I were ranking them, I'd give that 86 team a slight nod. Bill Walton played out of his mind for us that year.

But I agree with the OP - they deserve a nickname.

I came into this thread to say this! TP to you for being first!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

That wasn't Bill Walton playing out of his mind, that was how he played when relatively healthy.

Last night's preseason game against the Knicks, I got to see the Celtics play live for the first time since the 2012 ECF and I have to admit I like what I saw. But wasn't too crazy about the pick-n-roll defense. Hopefully the Celtics can fix that.

Back to the bench unit. I think this season's bench has a lot of depth. This might be the best bench since the 08' and 2010-11' before Perk was traded. I saw bench with depth and lots of offensive fire power. I noticed at times the Celtics first and second unit frustrated and give the Knicks problems.

Did anyone see Woodson's pathetic stunt? What was he thinking? The Celtics lead late 3rd and early 4th quarters. So Doc Rivers cleared his entire bench pulled in the starters and second unit and give the third string players playing time. So he decides to play Kidd, Novack, Priginoi for the remainder of the 4th and OT.

Seriously. Woodson really wanted to win a preseason game against the Celtics. Look at how many 2013  contenders have losing pre-season records (Heat, Thunder, Lakers, Celtics, Bulls) . I guess to make his ego and the Knicks feel better he needed a moral win.

Mike Woodson:
