Not calling anyone out in particular, but I have noticed a lot of the people that were bashing the Perk trade are also defenders of Ray .  I think it has a lot to do with them helping us win the 2007 title . While I loved their contributions to that team I think these people are protecting these former c's because they have that team in mind.

In reality Perk is a one way player who is getting paid 9 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR (we basically traded Perk for Jeff Green,Melo and Lee.....Hmmm I wonder who won that trade ???

The C's offered Ray more money and a no trade clause .

It just seems to me some people on here are way to over protective of former c's just because they were on the team that won a title after 20 years .

Perk is very limited and Ray is past his prime and really only brings shooting to the table at this point in his career .

Perk is a bum. He's WAY overpaid and isn't half the player he tricked us into thinking he was next to KG. Guy is a tougher version of Jason Collins.

Ray is old and has lost a few steps and felt like he was unappreciated in Boston. I don't think he was, i think he overvalues himself.

The team is much better off without Perk, and is okay without Ray because Courtney Lee/Jason Terry combine to be an upgrade (especially for Rondo)

Well, I guess there is SOME correlation with that.

Kendrick Perkins is quite the anomaly.

He is limited offensively, not quite himself since the injury, and it can be argued that he is overpaid.

But:

He is a HUGE 6'10" 280 pound speed bump, roadblock, whatever - to Dwight Howard. He also defends Bynum quite well.

He is also a GREAT teammate, enforcer, and the defensive anchor of OKC.

BOS has not had that kind of Center since he left. We had it briefly with Shaq.

We are now "hoping" that Darko takes that role. I believe he can.

So, say - Perk "earns" his paycheck in the playoffs vs Lakers next year. He did indeed do just that last May - vs LA.

So, say LA loses to OKC again this season - because Perk slowed down Dwight.

I'd say that is a SWEET ROI for OKC and Presti.

Ray? Even with his limitations, he helps MIA.

He was also crucial to our Banner 17 in 07-08, countless game-winning threes, countless track meets with whoever was unfortunate enough to have to chase him around our screens, professionalism and class, and a TON of community service events and contributions.

I have no problems defending both.

I don't like how people are now calling Perk things like "bum, overpaid, one-dimensional" etc. We rarely, if ever, called him that when he was here. Then why these words for him when he is not with us? I understand why people would say that to Allen out of a broken heart that he left us for our rivals, but for Perk? Really? He might not be the best player, but he tried hard everyday and gave it his all. Rarely was he criticized then, but now people bash him all the time because he isn't with the Celtics anymore. Did he leave at will like Allen? NO. Did he ask OKC to overpay him? NO. Its just annoying to no extent of how we bash players that are no longer on our team which were once with the C's. I can almost guarantee had KG left to play for some other team, Celtics fans would start saying he was this, he was that. Seriously?

As for this thread, I am a Perk fan, not a "fan", but a legit dedicated fan and I always root for him. When he is playing against us, I root for his individual performance.

Seriously, if you don't think someone is a good player, then say it when he is a part of the C's. Stop praising him when he is on the Celtics and then putting him down when he is not on the team.

I have seen many Celtics fans do this, and frankly speaking, it often gets embarrassing that such people are part of this fan-base.

I like both perk and ray as celtics. I think this team lost a huge part of its chemistry and all it's attitude when he was shipped out. Loosing ray won't be as harsh for us because not only did we properly replace him but we actually upgraded at his position. I still wouldn't mind having perk in Boston because what he does well is a role the we still need Someone to play. Maybe darko will succeed at that role who knows.

I still like perk and still miss him in green. However. I wonder how much people's opinions would change about the perk trade is shaq was able to stay healthy. Like having terry and lee to replace upgrade over ray, we had shaq there to replace or even upgrade over perk but it just didn't work out... Had it? I bet a lot of people, me included, wouldn't have payed attention to missing perk so much.

Extremely, because we would've beaten Miami. If we got early-season O'Neal for a full year, we are the Juggernaut.

havent noticed it at all and think this is both a stretch and a farce.

perk was traded, ray left on his own.

By the same token, opinions on the Perk trade might be different if Perk stayed healthy too.  He hasnt looked as mobile since he left.  Plus he makes a lot more money now.

I for one have never liked Perk's game. I like him as a person and as a Celtic and wish the best for him in OKC. That being said I loved the trade when it happened and still do today. Perk killed our offense. That being said Perk did a lot of things well as our enforcer and scowl. He was integral to our chemistry.

Fans just need to get over the past. Perk was not worth the amount of money, but we don't need to crucify him or Danny for doing the trade like we did at the time. The same 'fans' who crucified Danny for doing the trade are now praising him when now that we have Green back in action. With the success of this year maybe people will stop feeling jaded over Allen, but it will probably take some time.

Offering Ray a large contract and a no trade clause after openly trying to trade him numerous times and diminishing his role (not saying either of those are bad, just stating out the facts) is the same as mistreating your significant other over and over and then asking him/her to get back together with you.

Not sure if this is a good analogy but that's how I look at it. You can't consistently show little love to a player and then expect him back with a last ditch effort. It works on some people but not others.

Perk was cool guy .  I watch him on OKC.  But, he wasn't the talented dude to ever hold a basketball. But we strapped for bigs so bad at certain times , the loss of even Perk seemed huge.

I 'm over it and on board with Darko /Wilcox /Collins / Fab  deal

Now lets look at where the trade is at.

Jeff Green is starting to look like the guy we hoped .

Jeff Green is far more valuable today to the C's than Perk would be or will ever be  .
