Perkins was one of my all time favorite players in Celtics history and I hated to see him go.

I'm not convinced that Perkins would have been "the difference" between us raising #18 in 2011 or #19 in 2012 either.

When it's all said and done, I think getting a young Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger for Kendrick Perkins will turn out to be one helluva a deal when it's all said and done.

This of course depends on Green being now truly healthy and then Green and Sully both performing at levels we anticipate they can perform.

But if that does in fact happen, we are going to look very good for another ten years when looking back at the Perkins trade.

I loved Perkins, but I'm pretty confident I'm going to love watching Green and Sully play at high levels for many years to come, much, much more.

I still like this trade.

I love this trade, even if you look at it as Perk for Green and Melo, we get a young talented player in Green and a center on a really low pay scale who can be as good or better than Perk, who is really overpaid at this stage in his career.

jeff and sully are better than perk

we're trying to beat the heat, not dwight howard. centers are irrelevant.

Kristic would be here too if the lockout didn't happen.

Liked the trade then...like it now.

This is such an easy question... Kendrick Perkins isn't good. He wasn't that good when he was here. Perk seems like a cool guy and his teammates like him a lot but he's really overpaid and will most likely be amnestied at some point in his OKC career. 7 mil, then 8, then 9! That's insane. We're getting Jason Collins for the vet min and Perk is really not much better than him.

Don't forget to include the Celtics getting about $5.5M in cash becasue that is what OKC paid Nate Robinson to sit on the bench and then get cut.

Green, Sullinger and $5.5M for Perkins alone is an easy win for the Celtics.  If we could have somehow kept Krstic too, it would have been an absolute steal.

Didn't love this trade for the potential to win the season that it happened, but loved it for the long term implications. Can't wait to see a more athletic, younger team step up and ball out this season.

Avery, Rondo, Jeff, Wilcox and Courtney running the floor. Terry and Pierce dropping trailer 3 bombs left and right.

We will never know what would've happened if we'd kept Perkins. And I'm not just saying against Miami (where its highly improbable he would've made the difference). There are salary cap issues, yadda yadda, things that could've happened.

And I have no idea how good Jeff Green will actually be this year.

But all that said, I'm pretty psyched about our prospects this year, and its hard to believe we'd be in a better situation otherwise.

Actually that pick was compensation for Green missing last year.  Furthermore it was the second biggest piece in bringing Lee after Johnson.  We do have the bird rights to Kristic if he returns to the NBA I believe.

Liked Perk, could have used him last year... but Green and Sully anyday...if they preform  30% of what I expect it will be way more than I would have hoped from Perk.

I 'm thinking Danny and Doc have cooked up a good Celtics stew.  I'm anxious to see it on the court.

Not sure what is meant by 'it was the second biggest piece in bringing Lee after Johnson'.  Please explain. Thanks.

The pick + JaJuan Johnson were the major pieces from Boston in the trade.

I saw us lose a ring when Perk went down against the Lakers. There was no reason to fix what wasn't broken and I will always see that as a ring thrown away.
