Lets say they sign Darko. He is a big that can give them minutes against Bynum and Howard. Having 3 7 footers in your bench is nice...even though I think Melo plays in Maine quite a bit...

Big question is what happens to the roster?

1. Rondo
2. Bradley
3. JET
4. Lee
5. PP
6. Green
7. Dooling
8. KG
9. Sully
10. Collins
11. Melo
12. Darko
13. Bass
14. wilcox
15. Joseph

signing darko would pretty much end Christmas' chances on making the team..unless he beat out joseph

God i hope this is real. I lost count over the years started many Darko to Boston threads. It'd be surreal if he finally does sign with Boston. Defensively he is top10 center. With help from Rondo, Darko can easily put up perform Perk's numbers.

Would have preferred blatche but ill take Darko.

People talking about Blatche and possibly having locker room issues here is kind of a joke. I just can't take that argument seriously at all. With KG, Pierce, Terry, Rondo,  Doc and Danny he would either have to shut up and play or get cut.

Pretty sure a guy like Blatche isn't going to destroy our lockerroom.

TP

Kind of stoked...

Compared to Ryan Hollins, Jermaine o'Neal, Stiems, ...etc. Basically all the centers we had after Perk...I'd rank him after Shaq and Stiems.

His job is simple. Be 7 feet tall, stay healthy, scare people out of the paint.

Here's the thing, those of us who say he'd be a lockeroom cancer are pretty sure he'd just end up getting cut or whining from the bench in the end. Which doesn't do the team any good and wastes a roster spot and capp room(which with the "apron" isn't recoverable for the C's)

I disagree, look what Adalius Thomas did to the 2009 Patriots.  Thats a league with unguaranteed contracts and possibly one of the strongest lockerrooms in all of sports.  He still submarined some of the efforts of Brady and Belichick

I don't think carrying more than one project wing is worth it anyway.

He lacks consistency but this his potential. Watch him put in work against the Fakers.

Dionte Christmas' chances of making the team should be the last of anyone's concerns.  If he were to make the team, he'd never see the court.  Darko is an ok option.  I'm not sold on Collins and I can't see Melo being ready to contribute for 2 years.

me either...rather have a big...but it will be interesting how they handle that last spot. To me..i prefer joseph...think we have enough wings the size of christmas...but he def. is not looking good to make the team if darko does come here

think a rotation at center of KG, Wilcox, Darko and Collins is decent. Last 2 guys will get you defense...then you still have melo. But i think melo is going to be D league bound

I think is probably true. And Center is definitely where we need the most healthy bodies since I assume KG will play the least minutes of any starter this year.

If they could sign Darko for the vet minimum, there would be no downside.  Perhaps KG could bring out the nasty side that he was reported to have when he was drafted, but has yet to show up in the NBA...or he will just make him turtle, and they will cut him.

If its for the Bi annual exception, then its a little more risky.  But I still like it.  I have a thing for skilled big men who can block shots.  He may not be as skilled as was once thought, but he is decent.  And as a backup/third string, it is a nice thing to have.

Horrible big, I agree.  So over rated and one of the worst picks ever.  At least Greg Oden and Sam Bowie had excuses (injury) for being bad players, Darko does not.

Finally someone who can see the obvious TP

Im not sure why you think its so obvious, I don't want Darko because he was the # 2 pick.  I want him because he will be a solid backup big.

Ditto. This would be a solid signing for the Cs.

Darko as your 3rd center (behind wilcox) is not a bad option. Boston would have all the pieces to play the Pacers, Bulls, Nets and Sixers' big men.

I think Darko is too damaged mentally at this point to fulfill his potential. He is what he is. I don't think anyone should be hoping for more than he has done in Minnesota or Memphis.

Darko is also 20+ lbs overweight and unable to play at his peak level. Unless he drops the extra weight, he won't even be able to get back to the level he was once able to play at back in his Orlando days where more activity as a team defender + rebounder than in Minnesota where he has declined year after year due to his poor conditioning.
