This is exzactly right.

Gotta admire this guy for coming into camp, following his dream and giving up his body while knowing he probably wont make the team. He will pound back and give 110%. This is a guy with real heart IMO. I say thanx to him and will cheer for him when he goes into the game.

I dunno, he might have Scalabrine 2.0 potential:

Skip ahead to 4:45 and listen to the end, esp. if you enjoy Jeff van Gundy's sense of humor.

Also, Rob Kurz might be the only player in league history to have EVERY BASKET OF HIS NBA CAREER on Youtube. In a single video.

Giving a guy like Kurz a chance to win a job in training camp is much better than locking up a "proven" veteran big man who deserves no more than the minimum with a guaranteed NBA contract.

Nothing to admire, he is coming to get exposure.
If he plays well any team might pick him, probably not a contender, but a team who is looking for young big for cheap with some upside.

Then we differ in opinion on the young man's qualities. :)

wouldn't of minded if they had gone after mcguire/barnes but they are both signed. derrick brown is scheduled to work out with the hawks and spurs wish the c's showed some interest, don't see the need to have both joseph and christmas or smith. They could use a tweener 3/4 for front court depth instead of one of the non guanterred rookies, especially considering jeffs health issues.
