With new free agents emerging and the dust settling as we slowly creep towards the beginning of the season, here's another final 2 spots poll.

I'm thinking KJ and Terrence Williams.

As per before, I think Kris Joseph should and would make the roster by default. But with Ben Wallace and K-Mart emerging as free agent candidates, I'm not so completely certain any more.

Still, KJ's paid less than the vet min, we spent a pick on him and he would have been fringe 1st round talent in other drafts. We're only allowed 12 active players any way so as an insurance to the insurance to the insurance at the SF he's fine (Jeff Green, Courtney Lee being insurance 1 and 2).

While having another big is definitely alluring, Williams is a good defender. Having another body to throw at LeBron and D-Wade is invaluable at this point. He's also another one of those "put him in a vet locker room and he might just pay dividends".

Having said that I wouldn't mind any combination of KJ, Williams, Dionte Christmas, K-Mart, Ben Wallace and Darko Milicic.

I think with our current roster, Twill and Darko would fit best to compliment the players we already have. Since we are trying to win banner 18 in the last 2-3 years of Pierce and KG, there is no room for rookies like Joseph and Christmas, we already have Sullinger, Melo, and Bradley as young guys. We need vets to fill out the roster in case of emergencies, which with our team do happen.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm a big believer in Christmas, I think within a year he can be a very very good role player, maybe even a rotation player on a contender. If we didn't have so much depth at the 2, 3, and 4, Id say T-Will and K-Mart. But, let someone else try to draw from the potential well with T-Will, and let someone else roll the dice with K-Mart's health.

Personally, Id go Darko. Personally. But if it is Kenyon Martin, C'est la vie. Either way, a vet big is the guy we need.

Martin and Joseph for me. Vet big man to coach along the youngsters, have another good locker room presence, and provide us tough playoff minutes. And keep the young rook who can play defense at the swing spot. Let him grow in Maine for a bit and see what he's got to offer.

As much as I like Christmas, and I really do, a championship-contending team should not have four rookies (Sully, Melo, Joseph, Christmas). If someone goes down to injury, then one of those last three is going to have significant minutes (Sully will anyways).

So I say Joseph and Martin. I really wish Christmas the best, though. He's clearly worked very hard and deserves a spot on some NBA team.

if only there were 3, I'd choose Joseph, Twill and big ben, but coz there were 2, had to omit ben coz of his age
Joseph coz of his potential. Twill coz of explosiveness and awesomeness

Darko is young and is 7'1'' 250-ish and knows how to play defense. He is also a solid mid range shooter. His problem is his motor and work ethic. Ben Wallace is a former allstar, tough guy and also knows how to play defnse. He is also a shell of himself.

If both would be available for the vet. minimum, why would you not take a younger, longer player than the old dude who basically cannot do it?

That's why you sign Darko. More reward than Ben Wallace.

His problem is his motor and work ethic.

Arguably, the Celtics should avoid signing anyone who can be described by this sentence.  I don't really believe in some sort of magical KG effect that will turn someone into a hard worker.

You have got to be kidding!

How can you make a case for this bum over big ben (even at 38 yeras old)?

You say darko knows how to play defense and so does ben?? Well....big ben is a 4 time defensive player of the year what is darko, ben has rebounding titles, block titles etc darko has a career high of 6.1 rebounds per game on his best season, I DONT CARE HOW OLD OR DONE big ben is HE IS STILL SO MUCH BETTER THAN DARKO!

darko is a B-U-M!

If you rather go with a younger player thats never been anything but a bum/scrub than a former GREAT/AWESOME player that has lots of experience and veteran leadership you dont know basketball!

A "shell of himself" Ben Wallace is still soooo much better than darko! Thats why you not take a younger, longer player!

Look at Darkos numbers and then tell me youd still take him over Ben.

No interest in Kris Joseph, Dionte Christmas, Jamar Smith or Terrence Williams.

I don't think I have any interest in Darko Milicic with Jason Collins here already. Not sure Darko offers enough of a difference skill-set wise to make that worthwhile. Same concern with Ben Wallace.

I would absolutely love to have either Kenyon Martin or Chris Andersen but not both. So that would be one roster spot ideally. Maybe Ronny Turiaf as a fall-back if both of those guys fall through if he is still available.

I'd like to use the second on a perimeter player. A veteran. Maybe someone like Tracy McGrady to provide some insurance for Jeff Green. Or a third string PG like Keyon Dooling. I'd prefer a big wing to a guard. I think the PG slot has enough depth with Rondo, Terry and Bradley there. Courtney Lee can play some PG if necessary also. Yeah, a big wing. The backcourt is undersized. Another wing with size.

I completely agree. Even a shadow of big ben is still a vast improvement over darko. Big ben- 4 time defensive player of the year and numerous rebounding titles, darko- nuthin except being picked 2nd above melo, wade and bosh. Ben wallace is a LEGEND and he is one of my fav players outside of Boston, ever since the scuffle at the Palace (I dont like Artest). He is sick, if we got him and he mentored Fab to block like him, i would be ecstatic
