Possible lines could be...

PG:Cole
SG:Wade
SF:James
PF:Haslem
C:Bosh
  Or
PG:Wade
SG:Allen
SF:James
PF:Lewis
C:Bosh

These are the two possible line ups. Chamlers is out of the line up because Allen didn't like him and said so in the meetings. I could see him being moved. Second possible line up start Allen which is what he wanted. Lewis gives them maybe some more athletics, but it lacks toughness.

Some people have suggested James will play PF with a line up maybe like...

PG:Wade
SG:Allen
SF:Battier
PF:James
C:Bosh

It makes a tough match up for the C's. I think Green would have to start to cover James and that throws the bench out of wack. Loose the back up SF. Maybe thats why Barnes's name has come up. I don't think it helps Miami much though. Any team with a good PF will take him to the post to try to draw fouls, and if the league isn't fixed like we all think it is, the King will be on the bench for most games.

It also kills their bench leaving Chamlers,Miller,Haslem and Lewis. Maybe Lewis starts in stead of Battier for athletic purpose's. Then i think the C's mix up Green and PP on James, throw new looks at him. His IQ isn't great, might throw him off.

I know this isn't an epic thread, but with a month till preseason Im getting itchy!

What to you guys think of what the cHeats line up could be and what we might do to crush it!!!

Because Allen doesn't like him? You buy that?

Remember KG & Perk in 2007? Not an issue.

Shane Battier will be the starting power forward.

Rashard Lewis has a chance of stealing the position from Battier if he can get his career back on track. Udonis Haslem won't figure into things.

I would imagine the starting lineup would be this

Chalmers, Wade, James, Haslem, Bosh with the main playoff rotation being Allen, Battier, and Anthony with Cole, Miller, and Lewis being the deep bench (and playing a lot more during the season).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

In the regular season, it probably makes sense to have a bigger player at PF.  I think Lebron would get worn down playing PF as his primary position during the regular season.

In terms of the playoffs, though, I think you go with:

Bosh
Lebron
Battier
Ray
Wade

That lineup is hard to beat.  Lebron is absolutely dominant as a PF, and is basically impossible to guard there.

Haha, but this season's Celtic's team is basically put together in such a way that they can handle that lineup better than most. Good for us!

Regardless of how things playout with the starting lineup, I think we can expect to see plenty of Bosh at the 5 and LeBron at the 4 throughout the seasons and certainly to close out games.

I read about the possibility of Bosh becoming the starting 5. It seems they're going small like the Celtics, but smaller, because the Heat have no one bigger than 6'10 besides Bosh. It shows the lack of depth for big men in today's NBA. I guess Pat Riley is not willing to waste money on a mediocre big man.

It amazes me that contenders are snatching up big men like Chris Anderson or Keyon Martin. Makes u wonder why teams are hesitant?

"Better than most", I agree, if by "most" you mean compared to other teams.

I still think it's a hard team for us to match up with.  Bass absolutely can't cover Lebron, and KG can't really do so, either.

It probably means that Green will be playing a lot of PF when we match up with the Heat.  It gives us decent length and athleticism, but we'll still get killed on the boards.

I think it goes both ways as far as Heat and Celtics going with small line-ups.

well, this is the whole reason(or a large part of the reason) we signed Green to that contract...

expect alot of lineups with Green at the 4 against Miami

So let skinny no physical bosh GUARD kg, sully, Wilcox or Collins down on the box.  The physical abuse he will take will be nice to see.  Remember how many small ball lineups were put against bird, parish and mchale?  Do what we do but do it well, don't alter the team game.  Ainge has given us many options with this team, not just having an athletic 6'9" sf/pf.
Start ray Allen, go ahead......who is he going to guard?  You want wade bringing the ball up against rondo, Bradley or lee?

Yeah my glass is half full.  (of green kool aid)

Can Bass guard Battier at the 3?

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Chalmers (for whatever reason)
Wade
James/Battier
Battier/James
Defensive Hole that is Chris Bosh
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
It's Chalmers/Wade/Battier/James/Bosh, and if they're all healthy it's a pretty tough team to combat for anyone. Less hard for the Cs (Rondo/whoever/Pierce/Green/KG), but still really, really tough.

Man I hope Jeff Green is the guy we all hope he can be, and not just the guy he's been. It would tilt this series considerably more even.
