If there was ever a one on one matchup you'd like to see what would it be?  Take anyone that's ever played in the NBA.  Let's see yours for each position:

Mine:
Shaq vs Wilt
McHale vs Pau
Bird vs Magic (he's 6-9 so he's a SF for this case)
Jordan vs Kobe
CP3 vs Isiah

Honorable mention:
Pippen vs Grant Hill
Lebron vs Nique
Durant vs TMac
Zo vs Dwight Howard

They need to make a 1 on 1 version of NBA Jam!

Some of these player's paths did in fact cross, but it was when one or the other were on the decline.

I'd love to see Hakeem vs McHale (Prime)

David Robinson vs KG (Prime)

Tim Duncan vs Hakeem (Prime)

Moses Malone vs Dwight

Yao Ming vs Kareem

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Rondo vs. Tiny Archibald

Rondo vs. Bob Cousy

KG vs. Russell

I'd have liked to see Wilt vs. Russell once, live. :(

Manute Bol vs. Shawn Bradley, just for kicks  ;D

Bill Walton vs. Sabonis, both in their prime.

Sabonis vs. anyone in his prime... stupid politics.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

What was the best one-on-one matchup that actually happened?

Magic and Bird played different positions so they didn't really match up.

Russell vs Wilt
Malone vs Barkley
Jordan vs ?
Bird vs Nique
Lebron vs Kobe
Lebron vs Pierce
Olajuwon vs Robinson vs Ewing
Stockton vs Payton

I'm probably missing a bunch. Guys who actually manned each other up.

For me the best one on one matchup has to be Wilt vs. Shaq. Most people assume that Shaq would overpower Wilt and nothing could be farther from the truth. Shaq had more power possibly but in no way was he stronger then Wilt. If you think that is a crazy statement you need to read a little about Wilt's strength-it was legendary.

Shaq though had such overall power that Wilt may have had a little trouble with him. That being said, I feel that Wilt's athleticism would prevail. He could outjump Shaq by a mile, was much, much faster, and in every way was the superior athlete. The only real advantage Shaq would have is his lower body strength but in every other way Wilt was stronger still.

KG and Duncan would be sweet one on one.

I think the best, most entertaining would be the 2 way players.

This matchup is interesting because, in fact, both KG & Russell are probably the last guys I think of for 'one-on-one' matchups.

The wonderful, fantastic thing about both KG & Russell is that they are/were ultimate _TEAM_ players.

Yeah, sure, they are amazing individual basketball players, too.  But that's not what made each special.  Russell & KG are far more special because of how they elevate a team around them.

So it is odd to think of them in any sort of one-on-one matchup.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.
