This should be a national holiday.

I love the beginning of the NFL season.  My team playing is just a nice bonus.

What are people's verdicts on Giants and Cowboys?

Obviously the Cowboys won, and the Cowboys have some impressive players on the team, but I still think Giants are the better team...

I think the giants Offensive line is a huge question mark, I also thought thier running game was just awful and a non-factor.

Thier defense didn't look as good as it has in years past, which i think is due to lack of depth in the secondary.

But, I still think the two teams are close, but that's actually a win for the cowboys.

With the cowboys, I was real impressed with their defense. Claiborne is as advertised and the ability to have two shut down corners in that system and just turn ware and the front seven loose destroyed any kind of rhythm the giants tired to build.

thier offense is what it is. If dez bryant stays healthy and out of prision, it's good. If he doesn't its going to be pretty one dimensional.

If Victor Cruz could catch a ball last night, I think the better team would have won. Giants missing Ballard at tight end and their offensive line was really bad. But historically, like the Pats, they are a team that gets better and better as the season progresses so I think they will be okay.

Dallas defense was okay but I think it had to do more with some awful drops by the G-Men and their bad o-line play than it did Dallas' defense. If Oggletree can give Dallas that third receiver and their o-line comes together their offense is going to shine. Austin/Bryant/Oggletree/Witten(when healthy)/Murray(out of the backfield) is a potent group of receivers for Romo.

Agreed.

Put differently, the Cowboy put on close to their A game, and barely beat the Giants who came out with something closer to their B or C game.

The Giants are the Giants.

The defense didn't play great.  Sure having two DTs and 2 CBs (eventually 3) missing hurts, but the poor tackling and the lack of pressure they showed killed them.

As a fan, I am used to this.  They play awesome for stretcher and they play awful for stretches.  The two years they won the SB, they found their awesomeness late in the season.  Other years, they started awesome, then forgot.
