Name at least one, or three at the most, star player you would like to see as Rondo's teammate either with Boston or he with that star player's team.  I'll stick with Boston...

Kevin Durant - his shooting paired with Rondo's uncanny passing would be amazing to watch when they're in sync.

Kevin Love - See Durant.  Also, the pick-and-roll would be on display left and right.

DeMarcus Cousins - DMC would forget about John Wall and would say, "My man Rondo!" The Kentucky Connection revived. If you run, he'll find you.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Ideal Rondo teammates who aren't on the Miami Heat:

You need guys who can hit outside shots, defend, and create their own shots. I know that's kind of a description of an ideal NBA player, but you also need guys who can allow someone else to dictate the offense.

SG's: James Harden, Manu
SF's: Durant, Iggy, Granger, Gay
PF's: Dirk, Kevin Love, Pau, Bosh, Millsap, Aldridge
C's: KG, Howard, Bynum, Duncan, M Gasol

All-NBA, No-Heat, Starting 5 with Rondo using only 3 other All-Stars:

PG: Rondo
SG: Paul George
SF: Durant
PF: P Gasol
C: KG

Why Aldridge over Kevin Love?

PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: Ray Allen (Instant three)
SF: Kevin Durant (but if LeBron can somehow play without running the point or requiring to have the ball in his hands at all times, then LeBron)
PF: Prime KG (KG Da Bess)
C: Dwight Howard (Lob City)

You left out athleticism and hands as well.  Hence, my inclusion of DMC who also possesses a mid-range shot.

You must run with Rondo like a young Jason Kidd.  The aforementioned players from my initial post can all run the floor.

Other than George(who's streaky at best), that is an awful shooting team.  Defense and athleticism are off the charts, though.

Durant on the open floor with Rondo would be a sight to be seen.

Although I don't think he's a star, reuniting the Oak Hill connection with Josh Smith would give Rondo an old friend with established chemistry. I know many around here dislike him but I look at it more as I like Josh Smith playing off Rondo then I like Josh Smith

Honestly I'm really interested to see what Avery and Jeff Green can do this year. Both are athletic and can fill the lanes on the break.

Rudy Gay would be amazing to acquire in a Pierce deal. Not trying to bash Pierce and want to see him retire a Celtic but this thread is about a perfect Rondo running mate and Gay's above the rim play and nice 3 point stroke would compliment Rondo.

And as for a true star I'd take Kevin Love for the rebounding, passing and floor stretching. Love would be a Dwight Howard like coup if we could pair him with Rondo. The two would try to grow into Celtic Legends and would accept nothing less than championships.

Sorry...that was 5.

My top 3 would be

Kevin Love
Rudy Gay
Josh Smith
