Abso-lutely love this kid. Well, I can't even call him a kid anymore. Dude's a leader, and he knows how to lead by example, on and off the court. I have a feeling him and the Jet are gonna be companions.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Don't know about anyone else but I am just excited to have a backcourt of Rondo and ABsolute Zero for at least 3 years, if not twice that.

That is the best defensive backcourt in the league.

If he stays with the Cs (knock on wood) and isn't hobbled by injury (double knock), Rondo will be considered the greatest Celtic PG of all time when he retires.

...note I said considered, because there are fewer and fewer fans who even saw Cousy play, let alone were old enough to compare them.  Whether he's actually better will probably be a much closer debate.

Assuming he stays relatively healthy for the next 5 years, here's a rough guess about where he'll rank among all guards during the times they played with the franchise:

  Regular season, per game

12th in points, 4th in rebounds, 1st in assists and steals

  Regular season career totals

5th in points, 3rd in rebounds, 1st or 2nd in assists, 1st in steals

  Playoffs, per game

7th in points, 1st in rebounds, assists and steals

  Playoffs, career totals

3rd in points, 1st in rebounds, assists and steals.

Note: steals weren't counted for Cousy/Sharmin/Sam or Casey Jones

That's fairly conservative, based on numbers slightly worse than he's put up recently but slightly better regular season scoring, 350 out of the 410 available regular season games, 35 playoff games compared to the 92 he's played in the last 5 years. He'd be 31 at the time, so he could easily go a few years beyond that.

RONDO, change that attitude kid.  at least 2?  how about at least 5 out of 5 and one for each year after that.

enough talk lets start that season

This is not to say that you haven't researched, but I think that even in the event that there are young Celtics fans who are not considering Bob Cousy's accomplishments just due to age is doing Celtics History a HUGE disservice.

With that being said, I think that Cousy's accomplishments should be considered, too:

1947-48 NCAA AP All-America (3rd)
 1948-49 NCAA AP All-America (2nd)
 1949-50 NCAA AP All-America (1st)
 1951-52 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1952-53 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1953-54 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1954-55 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1955-56 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1956-57 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1957-58 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1958-59 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1959-60 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1960-61 NBA All-NBA (1st)
 1961-62 NBA All-NBA (2nd)
 1962-63 NBA All-NBA (2nd)

One MVP Award...numerous All-Star games...6 rings. I think at times we forget Bob Cousy, because of Bill Russell. But we oftentimes do not forget Russell's accomplishments.

Let's not forget Cousy.

Rondo, while having an impressive resume, has not approached these accomplishments, yet.

 2011-12 NBA All-Defensive (2nd)
 2011-12 NBA All-NBA (3rd)

BUT: At this point on, If he can get AT LEAST ONE Ring and a 1st or 2nd team NBA selection or two then it could be warranted for further discussion as Great Celtic G of all time.

We have to remember - as much as we love his play, he was not truly top dog until the last year or so. 07-08 Banner was mainly due to KG-Ray-Pierce.

From here on out, this is Rondo's Team...any success we have as a team will be on his shoulders.

If Rondo can lead this team to a Banner from this point on then he's truly making his way, from my frame of thought.

He FINALLY has the keys...

Cousy was straight up innovative. First amazing dribbler, flashy, blablabla (obviously SO much more, as stated above). But Rondo, Rondo's special, man. He reminds me a lot of what I've seen, know about Cous. Cousy will always have a special place in NBA history, and Rondo will most likely just be another amazing player. He just has a lot to live up to, and hasn't had the chance to be THE man on his team, to put up the numbers. Wait for his 1st MVP to judge.  8)

I like the confidence. He'll have to back it up in a big way but I like it. To be the best, you have to believe that you're the best. Go get 'em, R2!
