Besides the Celtics, who i feel the entire national media is sleeping on. But that's fine. The team thrives as underdogs. We know this.

The national media is too busy drooling over the Heat and the Lakers to realize that there are teams out there who are going to make the playoffs really really tough for them.

Why is nobody talking about the Denver Nuggets? That team wasn't expected to do much last year but they ended up taking the Fakers to 7 games in a really hard fought series. Since then they've added one of the best perimeter defenders in the game. The Nuggets are on the upswing and in a big way, i like the comparisons they're drawing to the 04 pistons. No superstars but 5-6 really good players who all know their roles.

Lawson
Iguodala
Gallinari
Harrington
McGee

With Miller, Chandler, Faried, Randolph and Koufos off the bench.

i don't think they're in a position to win it all but they're a really tough match up for a lot of teams out West.

Timberwolves might do some damage with a healthy Rubio.

Houston has a fun roster, with Jeremy Lin, Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, and Terrence Jones, along with redshirt Euro-rookie Donatas Motiejunas.

I could see myself watching a lot of their games. All of them seem like they could take over a game.

I admit this team intrigues me.  Just plain too young, but maybe in the not too distant future ....

I was with you until this one, lol.

I think we're going to find out that it was indeed a deep draft.

Brooklyn is a team that I think is really good and isn't getting enough attention. I believe they are an Anderson Varejao type player away from being a title contender.

Memphis is a team that I think is a title contender but has completely fallen beneath the radar due to their performance in the playoffs last year with an injury-reduced Zach Randolph.

I think Memphis are the third best team in the West behind LAL and OKC. Then there is a big drop-off between them and whoever is fourth. Probably San Antonio.

Then LAC. Denver, Minnesota and Dallas. Rounding out the playoff teams in the West. Then finishing just outside the playoffs. Golden State and Utah. Phoenix a bit further back. Houston, Portland. Sacramento. New Orleans bottoming out the conference.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
West: Golden State

If Curry and Bogut are healthy, this is a dangerous team.  They'll probably be a 7 or 8 seed, but i could see them going all "We Believe" on one of the West's top teams in the playoffs.

East:  Washington

I see this as the year John Wall breaks out.  He's got the talent around him now; no more knuckleheads to kill the locker room.  It's up to him to lead that team to the playoffs.

Yep, i agree with the OP:
Nuggets are my west coast sleeper, and I've got the NY Knicks as my east coast sleeper.

Why the Knicks? Because I think the media is already on to Philly and Brooklyn, but everyone is writing the Knicks off, IMHO. I think they'll surprise this year.
Celtics fan for life.

Damian Lillard is the real deal, like Kyrie Irving.

I was watching his pre-draft workout when you wrote your post.

He might go down as the best player from this draft.

Portland will be a smooth shooting uptempo team, but I don't see the defense right now. Probably next year.

What a stud though.

If GS stays healthy, I think they are a playoff team in the west.
