I don't think that this has already been posted, so I'll post it.

Personally, I believe that Ainge is done retooling the roster, for now.  However, I wish the team could start a true center as opposed to a power forward who knows that he isn't one.  And I wish this team would rebound better collectively.

Technically the Boston Celtics might be able to squeeze out a partial/full BAE while staying under their hard cap of $74.3 million, depending on the exact Jeff Green figure and what they do with their partial/non-guaranteed players.

kg was a top 5 center last season. Why do we need a center, especially in a league where 95% of contenders start a power forward  or powerforward/center at center?

Thanks for the link.  This is a good summary.  I'd be surprised if Danny hasn't left enough room for the BAE myself.

Because I'm of the opinion that you don't ask a player to play out of position for a second consecutive season.  It's no secrete that Garnett doesn't like to play center.  I mean I don't feel comfortable with the idea.  Especially, when said player has said that he'd done it for the head coach only.  What's that telling you? He prefers not to start at center.  Yes, that says a lot about his character and commitment to the team.  But, still...  You should allow him to feel more comfortable, if you're Rivers.  Conversely, why not start Collins? Ugh.  I'd rather not have said that.

If KG REALLY didn't want to play C then he'd not come back. Or he'd told them "I'm only coming back if I play PF."

Correct.  KG knew when he was signing what the plan was, and he's okay with it, or at least okay enough with it to sign.  The plan might include playing Sullinger, Wilcox, or Collins at the 5 while KG's at the 4 for some number of minutes per game, but the KG-doesn't-want-to-play-center-so-Danny-should-miraculously-find-a-starting-calibre-center-for-the-BAE (Omir Asik says "hah!") meme needs to stop.

I'd be shocked if Danny had the BAE left.  If he did, I think Carlos Delfino would be a Celtic.  It's better saved for next year, when it's possible that they'll be able to use the big mid-level, the BAE, and stay under the luxury tax line, much less the hard cap line.

If you read it that way, then that's your own misreading of my writing.  I'm saying that it's my preference to have a true starting center.  Conversely, I didn't say anything about using what money the team has left on a free agent center.  Actually, my suggestion is a center already signed on the roster, Collins.

Perhaps, Garnett did agree to resign and understands that he'll remain at center.  But I'm certain that he was told by both Rivers and Ainge that it'll be a platoon at center.  In other words, he'll start there but will rotate with, let's say, Wilcox or Sullinger allowing him to move over to power forward.  Because you can't expect for Garnett to duplicate his second half of last season at center, this season.  And it was widely speculated on local sports talk radio that Ainge might have been trying to acquire or sign a legitimate starting center to allow Garnett to play more at power forward.  Obviously, this didn't happen and he'd to settle on Collins for adequate depth.  Still, I found it interesting that the idea of Sullinger developing into a part-time center was raised by Ainge in a press interview along side Sullinger.

I think KG might be happier and more comfortable with playing center and winning than playing pf and losing. If that's what it comes down to. I would just think he'd rather play with Bass or Sully on the court than Fab or Collins. I really hope Wilcox comes back strong and stays strong.
