whoever posted the swag video yesterday needs to understand that was not Rajon Rondo.

By the way, when are we going to extend Rondo's contract. Do we want to risk alienating himn by not recognizing he is now the man and MAX him out. We must do this to get him the credibility he needs with the league office and the referees.

Most posters recognized that it wasn't Rondo in the video and the the thread got locked because it served no purpose.

Since when do max contracts equate to credibility on the court?  Pierce doesn't get half the respect he deserves.  Harden makes less than half of Rondo NOW and seems to catch plenty of attention in the clutch.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

the referees give allowances to superstars that other players do not get. One of the markers of a superstar is the MAX contract.

If the team pouts that Max player tag on the player the refs will be loath to foul out that player.

Making him a max player may also take away one of the subjects he is vulnerable on when it comes to oncurt trash talking.

And dont tell me he is going to get it in the next contract because he wil never recoup what he is losing now. Bottom line is we know what he is worth in this league and we shoulkd pay him accordingly.

Rondo's in year 3 of his 5-year rookie extension, so I wouldn't bet on him being extended until the 2014-2015 off-season, if that.  If he signs an extension, his max salary in year 1 of the extension is $13,975,000.  If enters his free agency, his maximum salary in year 1 of his new deal could be over $20 mil.  I'm sure Danny will happily extend Rondo if Rondo wants, but I can't imagine Rondo won't want to wait to get a much larger pay day.
