At least he admits what he is.  He isn't hiding it...haha.

I think most of us feel the need to 'set the record straight' when there are such obviously biased threads that start with no basis in fact.

It gets us riled up, and then it is hard to hold back from feeding the troll..

Can we ban this dude already? All he does is troll for Ray Allen. Don't take his bait, anyone.

This was the 2nd post in the thread.  It should have been the last.

This "RayAllen1934" character is a troll.  Plain and simple.  And yet everyone keeps feeding the troll.  Why?

Amazing isnt it?

At least im not boring

Not the same old Bradley is the next top 5 point guard in the league homerism talk you get here everyday.

You actually get some unbiased debate.

Some can handle it, some cant

I will make it simple for those who are not smart enough to understand.

The Celtics did get better now. They should be better, they should be more balanced now even without Allen. They are a better team on paper than they were last year.

Is Bradley a better fit than Allen right now? Who knows...is he better than Allen right now? I really dont think he is. He probably contributes better to that team, but that all depends on what Rondo does now IMO.

Novak ? Really?

Ray Allen still has 20+ point games in him. This is what makes him dangerous

Sure Battier can have a game where Paul Pierce wont guard him at all , and Battier can make 4 out 8 threes

But Ray Allen can still score 25 points and hit 7 three pointers any single game teams dont put the focus on him for.

You want to let Bradley shut down Ray? go ahead , and leave Wade to do what he wants at a higher clip then he would if Bradley was guarding him.

You want to let Pierce try to stop Lebron, he will get destroyed. Not hating on Pierce, but Lebron is just too tough one on one for anybody to handle, especially at Pierce's declining rate. Jeff Green cannot defend Lebron. I dont know why people think he has a chance too. And Green is my second favorite player.

If there ever was a chance for the Celtics to get by Miami, this is there best and probably last chance.

Wow...no arrogance here at all. The reason Novak is an appropriate comparison is not specifically the talent level but the role in the offense. People have explained this on numerous occasions. It doesn't matter what Ray may be capable of if given the ball enough times. What matters is the role he fits within the Miami offense. And that role is that of which Novak fits for NYK. They are gonna play "energy off the bench, 3-point shooters". That is it. Their shots will come as a function of the offensive execution, not a desire to run offense through them. As a result both could put up a 20 point game here or there on open looks. But due to the fact that both Novak and Allen will be down the list in terms of scoring hierarchy, neither will get enough shots to score a lot. Ray got 11spg here in Boston as the 3rd banana. At best, he is 4th and probably tied for 4th with 1 or 2 other people. There will be games where Ray may not score at all. But he's not going to be getting a lot of shots in Miami.

And again, I don't get the insistence on trying to deflect away from Ray's role in Miami with perceived flaws of Rondo or Paul. It doesn't work. It has nothing to do with nothing. It makes you look petty and combative.

Nobody is better in this league than Ray Allen at getting open, nobody has better footwork for shooting. NOBODY.

There is a huge difference between Novak's and Allen...

You dont score 52 points in a playoff game  because your NOVAK.

That 52 point game had Ray Allen take 32 shots.

Do you really think Novak can take 32 shots even if he was the 2nd or 3rd option like Ray was? in a playoff game? at 34 years of age?

It does not matter how many opportunities Ray will average, it doesnt matter how he is used in the offense.

He is a scoring shooter. Wether he gets inside the three point line for a 15 foot jumper, or he gets the occasional driving layup, he is dangerous from 5 feet to 25 feet. NOVAK is not and will never be because he has 0 offensive ability outside of shooting a wide open 3 pointer.

Just because you envision him being the 4th option and just sitting out on the three point line will not limit his ability to do other things. NOVAK is just a wide open 3 point shooter.

And you don't?? Are you telling me Ray will be HIGHER than the 4th option? I "envision" Ray being the 4th option because Ray is 37 and sucks more than the 3 options better than him. Please, please tell me you dispute this. I "envision" him sitting around the 3-point line because that is how he will best serve the Miami offense which is predicated around the 3 best players holding the ball most of the time. Ray on the perimeter is an outlet much the same way Mike Miller was for them last year as well as Shane Battier. Much the way Steve Novak is in NYK. Do you dispute this?

Who cares what Ray did in his past here in Boston? You keep championing that like it means something to Miami. I guarantee it doesn't. They don't care. He's not gonna get 30 shots in Miami to score 50 points. He's not gonna get 20 shots. Most nights he won't even get 10. The reason why? He's 37 and he sucks more than the 3 best players on the team. He's a spot up shooter at this point in life. Accept it. Get over it. Move on.

Wow That's your answer? Do I sound broken up about "losing" Ray Allen to you? Interesting though you did not refute any of my assertions about where Ray truly ranks on the Miami hierarchy.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Are rayallen34 and rayallen1934 the same person?

Regardless, Ray Allen is a great shooter.  Arguably the greatest of all time.  You know why Miami signed him?  To shoot.  Not to score, but to shoot.  There's a difference.

You know why he's the fourth option on offense?  It's because LeBron, Wade, and Bosh are much, much better than him.

You know why he's not going to get 30 shots in a Heat uniform?  He's the fourth option.  Unless a game goes to 10 overtimes Ray's not getting 30 shots.

Lastly, you know why people on this blog think of you as a troll?  You talk about us being biased, when you are brown-nosing Ray Allen like there's no tomorrow.  You like to use the 'Rondo can't shoot' line, as much as I like to use the 'LeBron has no hairline' line.  You can never acknowledge that Ray Allen has weaknesses.

Goodbye, troll.
