Getting that tattoo clearly states terry is EXTREMELY confident in our team. I see nothing wrong with this. Did the word guarantee ever even come out his mouth? I'm actually almost positive i remember him saying "Hopefully" in one of his interviews.

Still, I like that he's willing to put his money where his mouth is.  And as others have said, he's not doing it in an inappropriate way.  He's not taking shots at Miami or LA or anyone else, he's simply saying that with the talent this team has, they should win it all.

It depends on who you talk to.  Some dubious websites claim that Terry helped the Mavs win the title by getting in Lebron's head and trash-talking him with claims about his fiancee cheating on him or talk of going Delonte on Lebron's mom.  There are those who might think those are inappropriate things.

I consider this a basketball skill. I also believe games would be much more fun if we could get to hear what players say to each other.

Who cares... I like the confidence.

It's not like we are the hunted at this point. Most teams feel like we got worse because Ray left. They look at us like we benefited from Al Horford and Derrick Rose being out. They feel that had both those players been healthy then we aren't even in the ECF. They feel that if Chris Bosh was healthy then we get swept.

People don't really regard the Celtics in the same way that we used too. No one is listening to J Terry. They view it as noise. They don't care.

Hopefully in some strange way it can benefit our team though. But no one else is thinking twice about it and most contenders aren't thinking twice about us. I mean look at Granger's comments recently. Miami thinks they just kicked our butt by taking Ray and not losing anything of value.

I don't think this matters to anyone.

Did you really start the thread by addressing Jason Terry as "dude" and then diss him? I bet its a disgruntled Mavs fan.

Well that's too bad because that is Jason Terry he's not goin to change. Yeah he's cocky also superstitious guaranteed a title with Mavs and it happened feels confident enough to do it again and he did.

Exactly. This is how he's always been, I'd rather him be himself with this team than trying to be something he's not. We're not the MFY, we don't make guys get a shave, haircut, and stylist when they come here.

Btw, Jason Terry ALWAYS backs up his talk on the court. Yes, he's cocky. But he's the first one to hold himself accountable.

He didn't sit in front of a huge crowd and gloat "not one, not two..." and have his two goons giggle like little girls. He probably won't fake cough after getting his arse owned.

He got a tattoo, he promised he is going to put in work, no media bull no nothing.

And i think the tattoo is great and for the record if the Celtics win it all i'm getting the same one but i just don't think he should be making any guarentees to the media about championships without even having one practice under his belt with the team. It will be alot of new guys working together on the team this year, he just needs to chill and wait for them to gel a bit before making any bold statements. You just never know what could happen. KG could blow out his knee the 1st day of practice.

Why would you ever say that?  :'(  :'(

Teams look at the Celts and see Rondo and KG and Pierce and know that Boston's capable of beating everybody. They realize that the Celts had health issues, just like everyone else. And they clearly realize that the Heat would have their hands full with the Celts if both teams were healthy.

I think JET is going to fit in great with this locker room.

Love his comments about Rondo being the best PG in the NBA, as opposed to the passive-aggressive attitude of our previous SG. Big chemistry upgrade.

Guarantees are just talk. But this guy can back it up.

This signing was the best since 2008 in my book.

I agree, it is basically dumb.  I don't mind Jet being cocky, but I would just like us to be under the radar a bit, overlooked so we can bring the hammer down.  I like it when we are overlooked and when everyone is thinking we don't have another run in us.

Players like KG, RR, Jet, PP get a nice big chip on their shoulder that way.  I love it when we play like we have something to prove.  IE KG in last years playoffs.

I think guarantees in general are pretty stupid, but they're not a big deal either way.  Didn't Pietrus "guarantee" a championship last year?  That seemed to amount to a whole lot of nothing.
