Some people on this forum think Rondo is the best PG in the game and some think that williams, paul, rose and westbrook are better  ::)

Take a look at these numbers from the postseason and then tell me what you think  ;D

2011-12 postseason numbers for Rondo:

EFFICIENCY 25.4 , 3rd behind lebron and durant
only other PG in the top ten was rose but he only played 1 game.

PTS/REB/ASTS 36.0 avg , 6th on the list westbrook was 9th but rondo had a whopping 110 more assists, 19 more rebounds westbrook just chucked the ball and scored more (he is not a point btw he is a 2 playing at the 1)

STEALS Rondo was 3rd, paul had a better avg rondo had 15 more steals (45 steals total, more than anyone in the entire postseason)

Double Ds/Triple Ds Rondo was 1st, Closest was paul at nr 8, Rondo had 14 Double ds!!!!! And 4 Triple ds

So to summarize, Rondo was the most efficient Point guard in the league in the postseason BY FAR, He had the most points+reb+asts at the pg position trailing only westbrook who had just 3 more combined points, Rondo had the most steals, triple doubles and double doubles!

My strong opinion is that Rondo is the best POINT GUARD in the game. The only one that you can put in the conversation is chris paul imo cause he defends, rebounds etc williams, westbrook and rose are not close to rondo when it comes to getting rebounds, steals and defending.

If rose could win a mvp i think rondo can as well, more importantly i think rondo wants a finals mvp more than a reg season don you think?  ;D

I agree.

Rondo has shown he can take over games. I believ he does more than any other PG's out there, even Chris Paul.

If he only has a consistent jumper, this is a no brainer. I still believe he's the best PG in the NBA.

this only takes into account postseason though which isn't fair to the other guys. rondo plays his best ball in the postseason so lets see him hold these averages throughout the season first and get a consistent jumper then i'd say he's a lock for top PG.

Last time I checked, Rose, D Williams, Kyrie Erving, etc didn't play in this past post season, so it's kind of mute. Lets see him do that in the regular season before we can crown him the best point guard.

It is a small sample size but its more an indication of what rondo can do at his best CONSISTANTLY cause it is over 19 games non the less and last time I checked, Rose, D Williams, Kyrie Erving, etc dont come even close to that at thier best as an overall player at the PG position  ;D

And btw why do you put so much stock into the reg season? Id rather take a sample size from 19 playoff games than regular season games cause in the playoffs the pressure is higher and the opposing teams defense stronger overall so if anything its at least equaly good or better to look at playoffs as an indicator how good a player is.

In the playoffs the great players often separates from the good players.

If you still wanna look at the reg season, look at what rondo did on a consistent basis after the allstar break!

Rondo is the best PG in the Postseason no other PG can do what he does in the Postseason he just becomes a different beast. The guy can carry his team like no other can.

Love how people are actually saying "let's see how he does in the regular season"

Umm don't you have this the other way around? Not to mention Rondo did have a historic second half of the regular season last year and turned a 20 year old 2nd year player on his way put the door into a legitimate starter/scorer. Oh and he pretty much turned Bass into a starter as well.

Rondo has to be perfect or he sucks.

Here's the thing.  Many of us (like myself) find the reason why Rondo isn't considered on the same level as Paul, is because he only seems to lift his game in the playoffs.

Now, it is great that he does lift his game in the playoffs, but to be the best PG in the league, he needs to become more consistent, and do it night in and night out IMO.

And this is where some of the handwringing comes in about building a team around Rondo.  He is great to have for the big games...but unless he really works on the consistency in the games that might not have the bright lights, they might not have so many big games for him to shine in.

TP! I dont understand why people are talking like hes a bum in the reg season. Are people really that conserned with his scoring. Rondo can score when he wants to like we saw in that 40+ point game in the playoffs.

The dude put up 13.2 apg post all star break, no other pg can do that an still score 10ppg in my opinion.

The fact that he put up numbers like in that new york game just baffles me...17 rebounds for a 6´1" pG, are you kiddin me?  :o

How has rondo not been consistent?
He averaged 11.9 points and 11.7 assists over the entire season!

I fail to see how averaging a double double is inconsistent.

And btw, would you seriously go out and straight ball your behind off if you were playing teams like the bobcats and cavs? Dont think so.....

KG called him swag.  We call him Mr. Triple Double.  Everyone calls him Rondo.

But he's also underrated, underappeciated, and overlooked.

The reason the guy call himself the best pointguard in the league is because he IS the BEST pointguard in the league.  But besides that, I think it's basically Rondo patting himself on the back when nobody else will.  He's always overlooked by the league for the likes of Rose, WB, CP and DW...guys who aren't on his level in my opinion

So...you [dang] right, he's the BEST pointguard in the league

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would

And Chris Paul averaged 18.8 points and 9.8 assists during the regular season.

Rondo's numbers always jump considerably in the playoffs.  Paul's generally don't.

That is the difference.  Rondo raises himself to Paul's level, or maybe even slightly above (thats debatable) in the playoffs...but Paul stays a lot closer to that level all season long.
