  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
I thought I would start a thread where people can talk about what they're excited about for this upcoming season.  They can be about anything really, as long as it has to do with the 2012-13 Boston Celtics season.  While my main interest is winning #18, here are a couple random/funny ones I'm looking forward to:

Mike Gorman shouting, "JEFF, FAH TWO!" when Jeff Green makes an and-1

Fast breaks ending with alley oops not to Ryan Hollins

Jason Terry flying around the parquet floor

Whether Jared Sullinger wears one sleeve or two

If Rondo continues to wear a headband

Which teammates join Keyon Dooling in "flexing"

Share your own!   :)

A healthy Jeff Green.

Rondo challenging the all-time APG record.

KG and The Truth defying father time for one more season.

JET in green.

The development of Fab Melo.

Of course, going after title number 18!!!

Rondo showing us his near-ceiling

Bradley's emergence as a starting 2

Finding out who Jeff Green really is

Wilcox and Keyon surprising people in a few big wins

Terry winning us a playoff game

Doc putting his touch on this new team and, by season's end, seeing everyone embrace being a part of it

Brandon Bass being traded for Andy Varejao.  Can't wait Jan/Feb.

One of Green, Bradley, Lee or Terry becoming an All-Star.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
A season in which we finally have some guys that can get out and run with Rondo (Green, Lee, Bradley, Wilcox and Jet).

I'm excited for Rondo to put up playoff numbers for an entire season.

I'm excited to watch the deepest team in the league.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Getting a big man that can run the floor with Rondo and defend the Lakers big men after we beat the Heat.
His name is Verajao.

Also excited to see Sully and Melo develop.
Excited to see Lee, Terry and most excited to see Jeff Green in action, healthier than ever.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I am excited about the rookies, Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, and maybe most of all Jeff Green.  These are all big pluses as compared to last year's team.

In order to truly compete though (and I mean for a title), Rondo is going to have to show up with a Jump Shot.  The best scenario for the Celtics is if Rondo gets fewer assists but forces the other team to defend him honestly.  This will lead to a more balanced attack and easier baskets for everyone else but Rondo will not get stat sheet points for the baskets, even though it will be the result of his improved play.

We are not going to have the team with the best single player usually and especially as we get further in the playoffs.  To win, we need balance.  I think Doc understands this and I hope Rondo does.

I believe that Rondo can achieve this improvement but he has a ways to go.  His shot is still slow and awkward.  Those are two pretty big things to improve but I am excited to see what he brings this year.

looking forward to:
- fast break offense now that Rondo has players to run with
- watching Bradley give the other PGs fits bringing up the ball
- seeing some improvement in half court offense with no longer having to spend time with Ray running around multiple picks
- seeing Doc actually substitute liberally for PP and KG now that there are plenty of experienced (and presumably healthy bodies he can use.
- seeing a legit scorer like JET come off the bench.
- seeing legit lineups on the floor where every position can score and not be cheated off of (JET, Lee/AB, PP/Green, Bass/Green, KG/Sully)
- seeing Rondo become consistent with his jumper like he was (for the most part) in the playoffs so that he becomes one of the players that can't be cheated off of on D.
- seeing Sully get some PT and show he's going to be a legit post scorer in this league.

most importantly, seeing my favorite team take the court again for a full 82 game season and take the league by storm.

Bass and Bradley for Varejao? Would you do it?

Does this have to be in every thread?

It was in two, just asking people what they think. Calm down and cool it with the attitude, please.

I'm perfectly calm  :P

In any case, this is a non-starter since Bass cannot be traded for a while (he just signed).

I, and I think most others, know that. We're talking about in January, if it comes down to us needing a real productive, rebounding (aka not Bass) big.
