This past year's trade deadline was when we could have really used BigAl.

His inside O and his bounds would have gotten us past the Hawks and Sixers quicker and by the cHeat (probably would've finished them in 6) to the Finals.

That ship has sailed. Now our depth will do for us this year (a better seed, earlier playoff closeouts and getting by the cHeat)what BigAl could've done for us this past year.

Would've been nice.

There is some serious exaggeration happening here. Al Jefferson isn't the best or the worst at *ANYTHING*. He's just a proficient center with a pretty good hook shot. He's not going to stop Howard or Bynum, then again the list of people who do that is empty. Less than 5 guys in the league can even slow those two down. Garnett and Chandler do well. On lucky nights make 2-3 others.

Anyway I wouldn't trade away Jeff Green for Al yet. I think Green, for better or worse, is the SF of the future and some package of Bass + Lee would make more sense for both us and Utah. I'm pretty happy Lee is here so it would be a tough call trading guys who chose Boston in FA over other teams offering more $. It's a business but it's also bad business. Millsap makes way more sense imo. Maybe Bass+Melo for Millsap would be far better for us. I might even be willing to include a pick if Millsap agrees to an extension (similar to what KG did when he was trade here). If we keep the BAE unused then we can make that work fiscally too.

here we go again with the josh smith.

I would take Josh Smith over Jefferson any day of the week.

Hell I'd take Tyson Chandler, Emeka Okafor, Serge Ibaka, Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and the curly-haired guy in Cleveland over him too.

Problem is Jefferson is slow, he doesn't play defense and IMHO he's not dominant enough offensively to offset those weaknesses.

The few games I've watched the Jazz play this year I was interested to see Jefferson play, and he didn't do anything to impress me.

Josh Smith against Boston in the Playoffs was leaping tall buildings in a single bound (figuratively speaking) and was a machine. He impressed me.
