First, I usually read these forums and not post but with the heavy trade discussion threads, I wanted to take the time to tell you all something.

Most players don't want to come to Boston. Everyone knows it. Those that do want to come, you can thank Doc Rivers for that. The rest, who don't want to come, choose not to because they fear getting traded. While that may not completely be the reason, it is a major factor. Don't you think all this trade drama surrounding Allen in the past has affected others? No one wants to go through that.

Luckily, we have Doc Rivers, someone almost every player wants to play for. Now that some players are finally letting go of that feeling and deciding to actually join the Celtics, we are once again doing the same thing that they have always feared.

We just signed Brandon Bass, Courtney Lee, and others. These players (including Jeff Green) want to play here, and we want to trade them? Not only that, but for who? Josh Smith. Agreed that he is a good player, but is he someone good enough to risk forming that fear of trade once again in free-agents' minds?

As for why I decided to create this thread now, I have been seeing many threads with fans already ready to trade Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass.

If anything, Courtney Lee is the player that will likely change players' attitudes towards joining Boston, which will only be positive for us. Yet you want to trade him, and do all negative?

Is that really what we are about? Signing and givings hopes to players, and then trading them away in their first or second year without a solid reason?

While it may not be the only only reason, I will say that it does NOT look good that the Celtics seemingly have no loyalty to anyone, not even their franchise player. Paul Pierce at this point in his career should be un-tradeable but Danny has made it clear that he's not.

Everyone likes to feel wanted/needed and no one enjoys having to deal with that uncertainty during every off season and every trade deadline.

For the Celtics to start landing big-name guys, we need to show players they can expect the same loyalty from us that the Lakers showed to Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Derek Fisher.

This happens at everywhere. 2nd best center in the league was just traded. Pau Gasol has been in twice the trade rumours that Ray Allen has been in yet players are lining up to sign for the vet min in LA. They also traded away Derick fisher.

The Knicks signed Raymond Felton, he was having a break out year and they traded him away half way through the season.

Besides Perkins there hasn't been a core player traded away in the big 3 era.

Lakers get players because they have the image of the most fun team in the most fun city for ballers in the NBA. They are not drawing players because of Loyalty. If anything the one team that has suffered from loyalty to star players is the Celtics. They kept Bird Mchale and Parish too long while the Lakers were dumping players and reloading.

Just how loyal were the Lakers to Shaq who probably built the Staple Center. All the players you used as example for Laker loyalty to players have either been traded or been on the verge of being traded. Bynum was traded, Odom was traded, Gasol was traded only for the owners to nix deal, Fisher was traded, and Shaq was traded.

Your theory is wrong.

LOL! Wow! I guess you really missed that one! Re-read all of those names.  Every one of those guys have been traded by the Lakers.  The Gasol deal was nixed.  :D
We all think we know more than we really do....

Paul just got traded to Clippers, and the Clippers will trade him in a minute if it made their team better. The only problem with the Clippers is they would not know better if it dropped and hit them on the head.

Kobe has won 5 rings for the Lakers, there is no one on thr Celtics that comes close to that, and the Lakers will trade Kobe if it makes them better.

Dirk is the cornerstone of the Mavs why trade him?

I think it has a lot more to do with the weather and Hollywood, too, of course.

My theory on why they don't want to be here:

KG, PP, RR.

Why those three?

They get under their skin. Of course Howard isn't going to play with a guy that -during games- kept telling him "PAINT YOUR FACE, CLOWN!

I'd be scared too :p

This is a business. Contracts get traded in this business. If you are a superstar, you can write a no trade clause in your business. Other than that, to sign a contract and expect to never be traded unless you give the head nod... it is unrealistic to say the least. The Cs deal with this no differently than any other team in the league.
Celtics fan for life.

I doubt that NBA players read crackpot theories on fan blogs in order to form their opinions on free agency.

Three reasons most marquee FA's wont come to Boston.

1) the weather sucks

2) Most current NBA players grew up watching the Celtics as doormats.  Only recently have the Celtic's become relevant again.

3) High taxes.

Players get traded in every league by every team.  Players are no more loyal to teams then teams are to players.  That's why we root for the laundry.  Welcome to 2012.

Oh and the Celtics are now relevant again THANKS TO DANNY AINGE so kids growing up today will look at the Celtics in a far better light then the players playing in the NBA today do.
