  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
i would trade (near deadline)

Brandon Bass
Courtney Lee
Fab Melo
1 future first round pick
2 future 2nd round picks

For

Josh Smith

Then use our BAE to fill voids

That's giving up WAY too much. Those guys combined would make our bench mob so formidable, at a very cheaper price we have to pay Smith.
And you're also adding up future picks.

BTW.

We should get Jason Smith instead. Can be acquired for picks, I tell you.

3. BOS
IN:Bynum, Trade Exception (3m)
OUT: Green, Bass, Bradley, Sullinger, Melo

CLE
IN: Cook, Bradley, Sullinger
OUT: Varejao

OKC
IN: Bass
OUT: Cook

PHI
IN: Varejao, Green, Melo
OUT: Bynum

Picks can be dispersed as necessary

Thoughts?

Why stop there? I'm sure if we throw in Courtney Lee and Jason Terry we could convince Clevelad to give us Kyrie Irving and OKC to give us Durant.

Just game plan for the exceptional bigs like Howard and develop Melo. Sometimes good bigs are not purchased they are earned. Celtics had shots at projects like DeAndre Jordan and didn't take them.

The rotation of KG/Sullinger/Wilcox/Bass/Collins/Melo will stand up and to be honest there isn't a trade out there where the C's would not have to give up to much for a big that would not really effect the difficult match ups.

We have a nice collection of young players & bench players.  These are trade chips.  We have a still glaring need to upgrade our 2nd starting big (Bass).  Here are a few trade ideas I've came up with, some more realistic than others.

1. BOS
IN: Varejao
OUT: Bass, Sullinger, Melo

CLE
IN: Cook, Maynor, Sullinger, Melo
OUT: Varejao

OKC
IN: Bass
OUT: Cook, Maynor

2.  BOS
IN: Smith
OUT: Bass, Lee, Sullinger, Melo

ATL
IN: Bass, Lee, Sullinger, Melo
OUT: Smith

3. BOS
IN:Bynum, Trade Exception (3m)
OUT: Green, Bass, Bradley, Sullinger, Melo

CLE
IN: Cook, Bradley, Sullinger
OUT: Varejao

OKC
IN: Bass
OUT: Cook

PHI
IN: Varejao, Green, Melo
OUT: Bynum

Picks can be dispersed as necessary

Thoughts?

1. NO!
2. NO!
3. NO!
In that order!

start courtney lee... bring terry off the bench...

package avery bradley, brandon bass, sullinger and melo for a big like Josh Smith or Al jefferson.  Probably isn't going to be enough, though... even if we include multiple 1st rounders.

That would come back to bite us, giving up too much in that

Plus, they aren't even worth that much...at least Al Jeff isn't.

Jazz fans really hate Al Jeff.

If we have a good season, we'll be looking for someone at the deadline.  No idea who...but I'll bet Danny has a list of potentials.  Stand pat for now, see how things turn out....

You're right.  If we're doing really well Danny is obviously going to blow up the team.

Varejao, Smith, Al Jefferson are all probably available.

But, I think the best thing for the Cs is to sit tight and see how things go. As usual, I suspect Danny will be in the mix come the February deadline. With many of the players on short contracts, and with some of the youth we've got, I imagine Danny will be looking into trades either at the deadline or next summer.

He's basically slowly building back the stable of tradeable assets so that he can swing for the fences again (like he did with KG and RA). But patience is necessary.
Celtics fan for life.

I am all for giving Oden a shot.

If a big man is really an issue, I still like Green for Varejao around the trade deadline.

That's better than what Orlando got for Howard. I definitely don't like that idea. I'd rather sign n trade for him after next season.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

How about Bass and Bradley for Varejao and a pick of some kind?

He isn't playing this season, though.
