the East got tougher, but I still see the Celtics as the 2nd best team in the East on paper..

Bynum is really the only center that KG has trouble with (he was able to handle hibbert/Howard pretty well)

but I think thats why we have Collins. expect at least 20minutes of him against philly when we play them.

I agree, we are still the 2nd best team in the East (on paper).  Our division alone, though, is fairly difficult.  It has potential to be the most difficult division in the league.

I think we match up very well with Miami.  That must be the first priority.  The Western teams you can't worry about as much.  You never know who you'd play in the Finals, but you have to make it there first.

The thing is, the best way to beat Miami is still having two 7 footers.  Miami cannot handle that amount of skilled size.  Danny should be looking to improve our big situation whenever possible.

The best and strongest center in the league just hit the Oregon Trail, what's there to worry about?  With Bogut also relocated who does that leave?  Al Horford as the BIG scary banger of the East?

I couldn't hand pick a defender more well-suited than KG to guard Bynum.  Not strong enough to over-power him but pesky enough to get in his head and keep him from scoring the way he wants.

Personally I think the better match ups for the opponent are Chandler catching lobs after KG helps on the drives and Lopez with his finesse moves throwing hook shots over the top of him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Realistically, I think Ainge should wait until the waiver/buyout period, or at least until it becomes legal to trade this summer's free agents signings.

I would work under the assumption that Collins is about as good as you're going to get for the minimum and not hope for anything better.

Agree to disagree then. Iguodala was integral to that offense. Now, there's increased pressure on Holiday to actually distribute the ball and run that offense. And he's currently the only PG on their roster.

I don't think Iguodala is much of a loss offensively. Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner are more than capable of filling that vacuum. I don't think they'll miss a beat offensively without Iggy.

I still think it's worth taking a flyer on Oden on a 2 year minimum deal.
I would be very happy to if Danny did that.

I would be on board.

I would also be fine if the Celtics moved Green midseason for Varejao if big man looks to be an issue, having Lee play more SF, Terry more SG and Dooling more PG.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Green for Varejao + 2013 1st?

It that too greedy? I'd think it'd be a mid-late lottery pick. We would be amazing with Varejao.
I like Marcus Smart

More likely the other way around.

Al Jefferson or Josh Smith? I feel like Al would be a better fit for our team. Plus Utah can finally free up minutes for their bigs logjam.

I don't think Green gets traded unless he plays well enough that people around here think he might end up being worth his contract.  I could see Lee or Terry looking expendable once Bradley is healthy.  If the Celtics were to trade for a big man mid-season, I would expect it to be someone more on the level of Brendan Haywood (so he can punch Dwight Howard in the back), but I don't think Ainge will take on a contract like that.

WIth Doc's fondness for bringing on board other coaches as assistants or as advisors during the playoffs, maybe the Celtics should find a role for Stan Van Gundy and try to mess with Howard's head.

You don't structure your team for a team you MIGHT meet up with in the finals. You have to worry about the east before the west even becomes an issue. To panic rush out and get somebody right now would be stupid. Let the season play out first. Once again, the lakers are in the west in case you guys forgot.

dang i really wish we would have gotten Ben Wallace over Collins. Even tho Ben Wallace is basically the same player as Wilcox, i would be nice to have him here...

Danny make a trade for Al Jefferson!!!

Yeah, each time you say this I agree more.  Let's worry about Miami first.  I know the Lakers are the hot news story, but the HEAT are the defending champions.

Getting a quality big IS the best way to beat Miami.  Matching up better with LA is an added bonus.
