The Atlantic Division is now stacked with quality big men and the road to the finals just got a lot harder with Howard going to the Lakers. Before the trade, The C's were "right there" with Miami in the east. But now, Philly has emerged as a legit force, on paper at least. Same with Brooklyn. NY will also still be tough with Melo and Chandler. So, does Danny have a final ace up his sleeve? Should he add another big guy? Darko or Oden perhaps? Who else is out there?

It would seem that the current team was built to contend with Miami's "small ball". But now that the landscape has changed, what does Danny do?

I don't think I'm quite with you on this one.

Bynum hasn't appeared in more than 65 games in a season since his sophomore year. Philly traded away their best defender and best offensive player to get him. Their roster is still fairly imbalanced, and they'll need some time to gel. I think they may be the third best team in the Atlantic, on paper.

The Atlantic will be much more interesting this year, to say the least, but I see no reason why the Celtics aren't still the favorites right now.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

They added Nick Young and Dorrell Wright this off-season (Plus J-Richardson). They are very dangerous right now.

On paper, there are no injuries. On paper, the 76ers are the 2nd best team in the Atlantic and a top 4 Eastern Conference team.

They will obviously have problems with Bynum's personality and whether or not they will gel, but on paper, they are a dangerous, super athletic team.

Agree to disagree then. Iguodala was integral to that offense. Now, there's increased pressure on Holiday to actually distribute the ball and run that offense. And he's currently the only PG on their roster.

Also wonder how Hawes will work at PF. Collins said he'd start at the 4 this season, next to Kwame. I assume Bynum now starts alongside him.

I'm not at all concerned about Nick Young either. Jamal Crawford, with less BBIQ.

I agree, but I think Nick Young is a better shooter than Jamal but less of a shot maker (He played well with CP3 as a spot up shooter). I'm not saying this team is going to be lights out, but they clearly have good shooters on this team now.

I think Hawes at PF will be horrid. He's really slow and won't be able to keep up with the faster PFs. He'll bring size, but I see him more as a finesse big.

You're easily right about Jrue Holiday and his increased role. Him and Evan Turner are the only decent options for running the offense. That will probably be their biggest weakness - running a half court offense (especially when Bynum sits down).

It shouldn't, in answer to the OP.

I'd love for us to add Chris Anderson, but overall I trust Danny to construct the roster that will allow for us to compete for Banner 18 next year.

Besides, I think Danny already added a player who can slow down both Bynum AND Howard - Collins. He did this a while ago, too - not in response to Bynum going to PHI or DH landing in LaLa Land.

Besides, with what Bynum has in PHI right now? He'll put up around 23-25 ppg and perhaps 12-13 rebs, but who else will score for that team?

Who do they have around Bynum? Evan Turner, Jrue Holiday, Lavoy Allen, Spencer Hawes....all nice players, but is that a playoff team?

And can Bynum (and Howard) remain healthy?

Stay the course, Danny....stay the course.

Not yet.

Let the season play out a bit first.  There is no rush, and no clear option to get.

The 76ers also have Nick Young who is a capable scorer (15 ppg in WAS) and Dorrell Wright, who made the most 3 pointers 2 seasons ago, as well as J-Rich, who was the 2nd best scorer on the Magic, coming off the bench.

There will be a problem for them in a half court set, especially if Bynum is injured/in foul trouble/sitting. But they are now one of the better fast break teams in addition to being a great defensive team (Now better, because Bynum now provides the inside defensive presence).

Holiday
Turner, Nick Young, J-Rich
Thad. Young, Dorrell Wright
Hawes, Moultrie?, Allen
Bynum, Brown

No good shot creators, but a very good running team that converts good defense to easy fast break opportunities.

I really think that the Celtics will not match up very well against the 76ers, but hopefully we will pull it off.

the East got tougher, but I still see the Celtics as the 2nd best team in the East on paper..

Bynum is really the only center that KG has trouble with (he was able to handle hibbert/Howard pretty well)

but I think thats why we have Collins. expect at least 20minutes of him against philly when we play them.

I still think it's worth taking a flyer on Oden on a 2 year minimum deal.

If he'd accept, I'd give it at this point.  The C's need to unearth a center from somewhere.  I suppose, the more chances we take, the better the odds we hit the jackpot.

KG is plenty good enough for now, but he can only play limited minutes and won't be around much longer.

I will expect Danny will be looking to make a trade using some combo of Green, Bass and our younguns.  I won't lie, I look at those players as trade fodder.  Bradley is the only one I would be hesitant to trade.  For Bynum  ;) I'd concede.

Your lack of rebounding and bigs should have been addressed, regardless.  It's tough for teams like Philly and Denver to compete with the big boys, but they are doing what they can to improve.

Collins is a hack.  Ainge couldn't seriously think that'd be enough.

I would be very happy to if Danny did that.
