Any team with Howard, Artest, and Bryant is going to melt down when they get on a losing streak because their defense is a sieve at the PG position.

Out of respect (inexplicable) for los Nash they'll call out their favorite whipping boy, Gasol....Instead of los Nash.

This is a team that sorely lacks athletism at the wings and at PG to deal with OKC.

So you think they'll play 34 games against OKC?

OKC is still a better younger deeper team than LAL. Challenge the bulls 72wins?  ::)

woah now... they won 57 two years ago and would have won 50+ last year as well... you have them regressing despite upgrading Bynum to the best center alive and adding the best shooter in the world.  K

Best active center in the NBA. Best center alive? Stop talking. That best shooter in the world is 38 years old and all tho still good on offense he is horrible on defense and he loses the point guard matchup against just about all the younger elite PG's in the league.

Maybe we're looking at this the wrong way.  We're sitting here wondering how the Lakers improve by adding Dwight.  Instead we should note that Dwight won 59 games with the likes of Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson.  How much does swapping out those bums for Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash improve a 59 win team?

You interpret words weird.

Can't wait to see Dwight Howard go one-on-one with 78 year old Bill Russell for the title of "best center alive".

how many wins you win in the regular season means nothing. Can they beat OKC in a 7game series? I don't think so. I still got OKC in 6. They are too young athletic and deep with the best home crowd in the NBA.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
62-20.

They'll have a losing streak at one point and everyone will freak out, but overall, it will be a good season.

I would say OKC in 6 or 7 as well. Like you said younger and deeper. No one knows how the Lakers will mesh either. Looking good on paper means little.

Worst of all... on paper, they compliment each other PERFECTLY.
Pau Gasol does not fit in well. He'll have the same problems offensively with Dwight that he had with Andrew Bynum. Getting the best out of him will only become a bigger problem with Dwight and Nash on board.

A ball dominant wing like Kobe and a ball dominant PG like Nash isn't a perfect fit either. Kobe's increasingly post-orientated game isn't a perfect fit with Nash's pick and roll game either or with Dwight + Pau's post orientated ways.

It's not a perfect blend. Far from it. Especially Pau Gasol.

I'm gonna go with 59-23 or 60-22, because I've heard that Dwight probably won't be back (at anywhere near full strength) until January.  If he were at full strength for the entire regular season, I'd probably go more like 66-16.

They're really, really stacked and ready, though.  That's for sure.  I think they'd pound Miami in the playoffs.

Pau is a top 10 player if he's a C, playing PF with a guy like Bynum/Howard kicks him down a lot.

Link?

Nash Kobe and Pau is still gonna win 60-70% of games

Why would you expect to come to a different conclusion between adding Dwight to the Lakers than adding the Lakers players to Dwight?
