Kobe- not under contract
Gasol-not under contract
MWP-not under contract
Nash-expiring
Howard-their franchise player

They have all the capspace available, if they renounce Kobe and Gasol. I think Kobe is lying about quitting and might sign an extension there.

Gasol will probably be more worth for them now along with Howard, strecth the floor big man, that can also rebound and shoot.

I don't know how good Kobe will be then, they just **** annoy me, why can't someone just nuke the hell out of their team, the Staples Center and their city ?

Who will be free agents that year?

I'm no salary cap expert by any means but I don't think it's as simple as their contracts coming off and that money dollar for dollar can be used on another contract (or the difference in the old and new contract if anyone resigns for less).  I could be wrong though.

If there are players available then some of them will go to Los Angeles.

Well no, not exactly.

But if all they have on the books is Dwight and they renounce Kobe and Gasol, and maybe even trade Nash, they will have plenty of cap room to rebuild around Dwight.

The Lakers have a stacked team, an elite young player, deep pockets, and decent flexibility.

All they are missing is draft picks, but they typically suck in the draft anyway.

IF Howard turns out to still be the player everybody thinks, IF he stays healthy and IF he doesn't leave for the Nets and won't sign with LA .

Basically LA has TWO years (kobe greatness) to try and get it done, everything is set "NUKE" itself as you have noted at the end of two years.  Nash gone, Pau 35 , Kobe 36 1/2 why keep it together.

Basically Brown s TWO years ...to win a Championship ....Lakers really don't have time to get another coach and start over with him before the team flys apart.

So the Lakers are banking on Mike Brown getting it done....I bet he won't .  WIll mean PREFECT two years of HEATHLY no injuries with a crap bench with an OLD Jameison....

OKC , should be able to wear them out.

I don't think Kobe will walk away in two years. He still has a lot of basketball left in him. By the time they re-sign Kobe, they'll have no money left to sign another high priced free agent.

So I wouldn't be concerned about this at all. Won't happen.

And Kobe isn't taking a big enough pay cut to fit another high priced FA.

Are we forgetting that FA will be lined up to go to LA for a bag of chips and a cookie?

if it puts them in the mix and is his last shot for a title i think his ego would step aside and he would

How exactly is he going to leave for the Nets?  You are making a lot of wild assumptions here.  Him leaving for the Nets isn't even possible.  They won't have cap room for decades.

Ask Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, and Avery Bradley if young guys can get hurt.  OKC isn't immune to injuries and Scott Brooks isn't exactly Red Auerbach.

He was the only player to vote against the new CBA after the lockout because he wanted to be paid as much as Shaq and the new max wouldn't let him.

He's not taking 2 million dollars to free up room. I can see him getting a TD/KG type deal making only 10 million a year or something like that to get them under the tax, but nothing that will give them legit cap space.

In two years, the Lakers sign-and-trade Gasol, along with a protected pick, to Minnesota for Kevin Love. There is no question in my mind that this is going to happen.

Yeah....Because free agents were falling over themselves to play with Howard in Orlando.

Yeah....Because free agents were falling over themselves to play with Howard in Orlando.

Just LA being LA makes it a more intriguing option for free agents.
