Phone Rings...

Perkins: Hello

Presti: Get in the weight room, I need you to add 25 pounds to your frame.

Perkins: What? You just asked me to lose 25 pounds last off season. Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.?

Presti: Have you been online today?

Perkins: No. Wait a minute I'm logging on. Hang on. Oh, Ok, I'm on my way to the gym...

Presti: Thanks. By the way, all that amnesty talk you heard? 100% chatter, nothing to it.

Perkins: Whatever...

What's the over / under that we see Perkins looking a bit more like he looked like in Boston than what he looked like last season?...

Eh, I am not sure putting on weight is what he needs.  I think he took off the weight largely to help him stay healthy, and it has little to do with his less than stellar play.  I just think OKC doesn't hide him as well as the C's did.

I, for one, would welcome the return of Bulky Perk.  Skinny Perk just doesn't look right.

True Chris re the weight and the health - less wear on his knees.

That being said, I agree Roy, I liked the hulking, brusing, scowling Perk a lot more. Like a throw back player from the Rick Mahorn Pistons - without the real dirty stuff...

Perkins was always "very" physical, but I never thought he made dangerous plays on guys - just a lot of body and banging.

Thanks for the T P JSD.

Seriously. The Perk Trade from the OKC side of things keeps flip-flopping between "brilliant" and "stupid". Currently looks "brilliant".

I missed the "stupid" part since the team has gone all the way to the finals.

He was never in danger of being waived.

There is a large difference in having KG next to you and Durant/Ibaka when it comes to passing and defense/rebounding opportunities.

Exactly.  And throw Pierce and Rondo into the mix too.  They are all very good passers, and guys who know how to draw attention and then find the open man.  And the defense scheme was fantastic.

I really think Perk is the same player he was in Boston.

That's very nearly a non sequitur. OKC didn't make it to the Finals in spite of Perkins, but he has definitely been a mixed bag for them.

Again, as has been talked about ad nauseum, you then missed Perkins being a highly overpaid liability on the court then. Yes, the team made the Finals. Great. The Cavs made the finals with Sasha starting. Both teams made the Finals in spite of having the two in the starting line up.

I don't think he moves as well as did pre-injury. I think there has been a fairly significant drop-off in terms of defense and rebounding from Perk.

Sort of.

His peak value 08-09 early 09-10 there is a drop off. But overall he's very similar in impact to what he has been over his career.
