At first look, they new Lakers team looks perfect, but look a little closer..

1. Nash is 38 years old, and he still plays good.. He played his entire career healthy, and he's bound to have a devastating injury this year.. That's how it works.. And when Nash goes down, the Lakers go down..

2. Kobe is 35 and never had a bigger injury and each year he's getting older and older.. I think we're about to see a change is his game this season, but for the worse..

3. Gasol will be 33, and his game is wearing down..

4. Dwight has a bad back and I think he won't get used to the superstar enviroment in LA.. In Orland he was the main deal, but now they have Kobe, Nash, Gasol, etc..

5. Then again, we're looking at the Miami syndrome.. A team with awesome starters but a really bad bench.. Think not? Look at this:

Steve Blake
David Ebanks
Andrew Goudelock
Jordan Hill
Josh McRoberts
Darius Morris... The only decent guy is Jamison..

When you see it this way, the whole thing is just bound to fail at some point..Nash may get hurt, Kobe might get hurt and might begin to suck, Dwight might turn drama queen mode or injure his back badly.. They will also lose games cause of the bad bench..

Kobe is 33

In two weeks he'll be 34 and by Playoff time 2013 he'll be closeing in of 35 .   So 2014 playoff he'll be nearly 36  .....Lakers are running out of time.

This year maybe his last KOBE allstar swansong IF he can stay healthy.  His dominance will really start to tell after this year .

Mike Brown has this year to get the job done ..and he needs to go to the finals to keep his job......if LA makes the finals but doesn't win , there will be ONE more shot for Brown and Kobe.  All this depending on Howards BACK holding up....thats ALOT of IFS..

76ers are a top 4 team in the East next season -

Jrue Holiday
Evan Turner, Nick Young
Thad. Young, Dorrell Wright
Spences Hawes?
Andrew Bynum

Scary Team.

I think Philly need to make another move to address that Hawes @ PF situation in order to get into the top 4 in the East.

Right now, I'd say they are 5th or 6th.

Would Hawes + Lavoy Allen + Kwame + future 1st for Josh Smith get it done?

Hawes allows Horford to slide to PF where I really feel like he belongs.

You guys are funny.  Our best player (KG) is going to be 37 years old.  Our 2nd best player (Pierce) is going to be 35.   Our star point guard is deeply flawed.  Beyond that we have some interesting players that everyone around here is overhyping.  I'm not even sure Bradley is big enough to be a long-term starter.  Courtney Lee is playing on his 4th team in 5 years.  Jason Terry is 35 years old and a career back-up.  Jeff Green is a talented player, but not a star.  We have no real center to challenge Dwight Howard and we've been brutalized in the past by teams with size.  Sullinger was a 21st pick for a reason and as far as I could see he really struggled in the summer league.

Ya'll are using age to poke holes in a team where the greatest shooter in the entire league and arguably the league's best playmaker (Steve Nash) is the team's 4th best player.  Come on now.

Why not Gasol for Devin Harris (backup pg) and Smith

Is it just me or is Dwight Howard awful at basketball?

Sure he's an elite defender who mostly just blocks a lot of shots (where possession returns to the shooting team).

But as the Celtics have proven over the years Dwight Howard does not demand a double-team, has an incredibly weak post game, is not committed to improving his game (only committed to his body), and is an awful passer out of a double team (can't you just picture him turning the ball over, looking over to the ref with his arms up in the air, then looking over to Stan Van Gundy with that huge sarcastic smile?). Put him on the FT line and he crumbles. He is so self absorbed which will not mesh well with Kobe, and is so concerned about himeslf that I just can't envision him doing anything other than blocking shots and throwing down alley-oops from Steve Nash.

Anyone can make Dwight crumble mentally when it counts, just ask Kendrick Perkins or Rasheed Wallace.

Aside from Rondo being our best player, your description is pretty much befitting a lottery team. How many wins are you expecting from that rag-tag group of misfits?

Replace "anyone" with "a small handful of huge mean dudes" and "when it counts" with "when they are lucky enough not to get into foul trouble."

Point taken, he's not super skilled. Does it matter, though? I mean, a bomber isn't as skilled as a ninja, but he does a lot more damage.
